I happen to agree.

That being said, Cash is king. I voted white without really reading much of the thread. Upon spending more time actually seeing what's transpired here I would change my vote to say just give her a cash bonus (if you legally can) and let her buy her own watch if she does so please.

Haha you started an HR fiasco with a simple color preference poll.

I voted black. I wish you were my boss! Mine keep getting transferred out before I can get to know them... Congrats on finding, and retaining an amazing employee.

To retain your theme, I think your next post should include a poll about keeping stickers on, followed by an Is It Safe? post, then wrap the series up with a tool watch/jewelry poll!

Might be best to fire her, she's causing too much hassle on the forum now. #Priorities.

I’d go white. It matches everything.

If her “homage” watch is the same brand she might feel like you’re calling her out with the black face one.

I might have a solution for you : Ask your wife to help you pick the watch. Invite your employee and her husband over for dinner and present the watch at that time. No one will feel excluded and you get to reward your loyal employee.

I agree, let her pick.

I don't think you've gone about this gesture the best way.
I assume the important part of this is the receiving, rather than the giving. If so, I would have thought the best option would have been to accompany her to your local AD and let her chose her preferred watch.
You could tell the dealer beforehand to guide her to Rolex and to a certain budget.
However the lady obviously isn't into expensive watches, as she'd have bought one already, given that she's financially secure. Perhaps you should look to another gesture - one more fitting to her interests and hobbies. It's always best to give up one's time and or money for a special gesture. Take your time to organise something that she would love, but would never have been able to do herself. It could be tickets to her favorate singer with a meet and greet before and a backstage pass after. Etc.
Something tells me, with you, the more important part is the giving, rather than receiving. Sorry, but that's how this comes off.
Anyway, it's a nice gesture and I'm sure she'll appreciate whatever you do.
Regards

Definitely white. Being a neutral color will make it much easier for her to wear with everything.

Not sure there is a wrong choice. I would go black.

That she's your one and only certainly raises the stakes. If the scenario someone else painted were taking place it would be a little different: you publicly present her with a watch with other employees present.

The above solution is a very good one. Husband doesn't feel like trash for letting his wife wear an 'homage', your assistant feels valued, your wife is involved.

OP, This is complicated (as you've surely noticed). My suggestion is that you give cash.

There are several potential downsides to your well-intentioned plan. (1) She may prefer cash and the independence to spend 'her' cash however she wants. (2) Her husband may misinterpret an expensive gift/award. (3) She may not appreciate luxury watches like you do. (4) She may appreciate watches but she may not appreciate having someone else choose 'her' watch.

As a side note, I worked 20+ years for a company that had 10- and 20-year service awards. I was frustrated that the well-intentioned service awards (watches, earrings, cameras, binoculars) weren't anything that I would have chosen. At 50-something, I already had watches, cameras, and binoculars. One time, I just skipped the award. Another time, I took a watch and never wore it. I preferred the "take your spouse/family to dinner" awards that were given out semi-regularly for teamwork and results.

I bought my wife the silver dial and it is fantastic. Flashier than the white, but still goes with any outfit.

He has nary a hint of doubt regarding the size, bezel, bracelet type, hour markers, and much more. I suggest you answer the question within the parameters he has provided

Johny, you are only entitled to comment on the dial color. If the OP wants further feedback, such as that he's a sexist, the Ferry will handle that.

Actually I won't handle that, as I never said he was a sexist person. I said the way he was approaching this gesture could be interpreted as sexist.

The only people who labeled others with personal insults and name-calling were you and the OP

What about Silver?

White first..then Silver....then black

I polled my wife who wears a 31mm Silver datejust...she has diamonds...not sitcks...go figure...at any rate she said white is more versatile

Good luck!

I voted blue, because its the colour that sings to me and would be my personal preference. My suggestion; since you have already decided to purchase a watch for your PA, why don't you let her choose the colour? It would be no less of a surprise :-)
