New watch for the Mrs.

Just returned from the Cartier store. She's always liked the Tank Francaise but didn't think she'd prefer the mid size over the small.. She's petite and wears small/thin Ebel(s). Women like battery watches for some reason. Heaven forbid she'd wear her Gold Perpetual Lady Datejust.

Fantastic! That's exactly the one I've been telling my wife to get. She's hesitant because of the lack of date but I say who cares! The tank is all class

My wife is pushing 60 and couldn't see a date if it had one.. :)

You can buy on-line from Cartier where there is no tax. Also, you could return the watch (if not worn) for full refund.

In store, you pay the tax (where I live) and returns are for store credit only! But buying in the store is a nice experience with sizing, packaging, etc., and you have to go to a store anyway if bought on-line to size it.. 4 1/2 links removed on the one we took home.

Congrats to her! When I graduated college at 21 and started working, I bought the exact same piece as my first high end watch. Wore it daily for six years!

The Tank Francaise is a beautiful watch. I got my wife a Cartier Santos with a gold bezel which wears every day. But don’t over do it. She may not need more. I got my bride a gorgeous 36mm Omega Seamaster and it lives in the box.

Thanks guys. I think this will be it for a while. She LOVES it! Slips under her shirts/sweaters easily. Know one will ever see it. :) She can read the time easily. As much as she has always liked the "Tank Francaise" my "Yankee" wife would never ask for one. Never buy one on her own. Makes it all the more pleasurable to get it for her without a need for a special occasion etc.

Thats a beautiful watch! I prefer watches without the date - never seemed right to me!

History of the “Tank”. Didn’t realize the design is 100 years old.

She doesn’t mind at all. Don’t think her Ebel(s) have a date. She has her iPhone with her all the times so it’s not an issue. She’s never mentioned that she wanted a watch with a date. Not important for her I guess.
