Standard # of links ?

Greetings! New to TRF and recently purchased a 116300 DateJustII 41mm in black. After having many different watches on my wrist from Timex to A Tag I fulfilled my wants and treated myself to the watch I have always wanted. I absolutely love it, the feel, the weight, the beauty and all that Rolex stands for, it’s finally on my wrist and I am one happy guy. My question however is how many links are standard? I’ve seen several different answers. I had to have one link removed for a proper fit and now I have 12 links remaining, and do you count the small one at/on the clasp? I have spent literally hours reading all different threads and topics here on TRF and I am amazed at the knowledge that is displayed as well as the kindness of the members. Simply put I have attained considerable knowledge in a very short time, thank you!
