Since this topic was raised, I was watching an episode of "Mythbusters" yesterday evening. The show was dedicated to James Bond stunts. They tried to see if a magnetic watch could deflect a bullet. This gadget was from "Live and Let Die" but the watch (Submariner) was never used for this purpose, Q Branch just claimed that it could do such a thing.

The "Mythbusters" group used a Sub, but a knock off with a quartz movement. They tried putting an electro-magnet into the watch with the strength of (i think) 500 gauss. It didn't work.... eventually, they lined up 13 magnets (each with the strength of 250lbs). They shot the bullet over the 13 magnets and this caused the bullet to dip but it still hit its mark.

So in conclusion: if this topic is ever raised on the forum, we can look back here and find our answer.

Next time I need to deflect a bullet I will search out a watch that uses a 3,250 pound magnet!

Is there a new electrified lead compound I am not aware of? I could see the magnet affecting the shooter's Rolex steel watch on his wrist, thus altering his aim, perhaps.............
