Silly me!
When I read the subject line here, I thought this was going to be a Thread where you'd Post quotes of things people had said, and then we'd vote for our favorites!
But I have to remember that there is a world outside of, um, Rolex Forums?

I vote to keep the TRF Mods for another term and to double their pay.
No lines yet at my polling place. I was number 165 at 8:00 this morning. It will be crazy crowded by the time I get out of work.

I'm going in about an hour.
We've had early voting for at least a couple of weeks, and that has been crazily crowded, with lines of 2 - 3 hours waiting!

I've heard that the line ups are long down there, but it's so important to vote! Bring a book! Or, maybe the area has wireless internet and you can bring your laptops and play on TRF! Just get out there and do it!
( I'm really into voting, I wish I could cross the border and vote too!) |

Long lines in many precincts here, too. Best time to catch a short line is 10 am to 2 pm.

Indeed English, you have the right sentiment. Let this Great Republic send a message to the Democrats in power and VOTE WHIG!!!
Bring back the days of Harrison, Fillmore, and Taylor! Say NO to an autocratic executive branch!!

Election Day Fun Fact:
During his entire 47 years in government, Herbert Hoover turned each of his Federal salary checks to charity or other causes. Mr. Hoover's personal policy throughout his public career was to accept no compensation for any public service, though when he worked for the Government as Secretary of Commerce and President, he was required by law to accept a salary. In an interview with Charles Scott, editor of the Iola (Kansas) Daily Register in January, 1937, Hoover explained: "I made up my mind when I entered public life that I would not make it possible for anyone ever to say that I had sought public office for the money there was in it. I therefore kept the money that came to me as salary in a separate account and distributed it where I thought it would do the most good. Part of it went to supplement the salaries of men who worked under me and whom the government paid less than I thought they were worth. Part of it went to charities." |
