Nothing to fix. RSC will sharpen it up for sure during a service with their complimentary case re-finishing, but if it’s ticking along, wear and enjoy.

Enjoy it as is, unless it has a problem. When you need to service it then it will come back looking brand new.

Still thick enough to refinish IMO.

It’s polished more than once for sure but you can send it to some service center (in LA) they can “reshape” the lugs again and nick it as thick and as good as new
If you trust the seller and price is good, that wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me

I think that you are a victim of the misuse of the word "polished" by so many cool-kids on Forums.

Usually, over-polishing does not really mean "polished", but deformed from original contours by aggressive means.

This watch has, indeed, been polished. However, it is light and a proper refinishing job can return it to like-new looks from a good refinisher or the RSC.

Candidly, I would not even consider it. Over polished. Edges of crown look mangled. Good amount of bracelet stretch. Unless the price is literally “a steal” would wait for a better specimen to come along.

No, I still don’t think so.

Expect in the range of $1,200 for service and restoration by RSC. I would rather pay more for a model in decent shape - maybe even with box, manuals, etc. than buy one at a lower price-point only to incur a costly service bill to rehab the watch.

My advice is to be patient, keep saving, so when a nice model becomes available (and you’ll be able to tell the difference with this one) there won’t be any hesitation or concern: you’ll know it is the right choice.

I agree. I wouldn't have a problem at all buying this watch. Definitely not "over-polished."

Is what over-polished?

Looks fine as is. I see no reason to get work done on the watch in order to keep it in perfect condition.

If you purchased it...it looks good
If you are thinking about buying it, hold out for a better piece.
See, it's that easy.

Try and get a pic sent to you that shows the "side on" view. That case could be well polished/over polished along the lower edges too. Bracelet stretch looks bad. It has SEL's so it's not a real old model (presuming it is all original) but that watch seems to have had a hard life. Crystal is chipped too. So 5800 and at least 1200 more with only that picture to go on, to many unknowns for me to buy that imho. For a little more money you can get one in much better condition and probably with more provenance/history too. More pics will help us to help you maybe negotiate a lower price.
