Grandfather's Daytona - Real or Fake?
My grandfather recently passed and among his possessions was a fairly well worn Rolex. I'm not much of a watch guy and don't really know what to look for in a replica. I've attached a few pictures of the watch but haven't been able to find a serial number or model number. Any advice on the authenticity of the watch would be appreciated.

Haven't seen the pictures but after reading these "Grandfather's Rolex" posts for a few years now I have learned one thing, 99.9% of grandfather's have fake Rolexes.

As an aside, would a mod please fix the link in my original post to make the images easily accessible? I don't have the post count to be able to link directly to them. |

yes definitely a fake.
You know what is disappointing? and I say this without any criticism of all the grandfathers out there (given everyone has different financial means) but its disappointing when a grandson gets a watch from granddad and its fake.... |

About half the people peddling fake Rolexes claim their watches have been in safety deposit boxes for decades, even though the models they have are only four or five years old. With all due respect to the original poster, I would say the likelihood of a real Rolex resulting from "I inherited it from my grandfather" hovers between 1% and no chance at all . . . |

There have been a couple real inherited Rolex pass through here. They are rare, but do happen. So your no chance at all theory is a bit of an exaggeration. |

In my personal experience I have never seen "I inherited it from my grandfather" used anywhere other than for the tarting-up the sale of a replica. |

If it says ‘WINNER Rolex at Daytona 24’ on the back it’s 100% legit

Authenticator for a major pawnbroker - I hear the story 15 times a week and I have seen, in all my time, 1 customer return with evidence to say it was inherited. My favourite was the guy who told me his granddad left him a Sub in 2006. It was a 2009 serial. |

Thank you however my photo post(s) were deleted here/sorry I'm a private newbie Rolex owner -probably because I'm thinking of selling my 6265 Daytona serial number 8601XXX and not being a member of the rolex classifides.

I'm a recent member, and haven't seen many of these "grandfather" threads. I'm curious why the dads get skipped?
