Hi guys,

I've picked up a mark on the ceramic bezel of my Sub - the white/silver mark circled on the attached photo.

Strangely it doesn't actually feel like a scratch (nail doesn't catch on it) and I was also under the impression that the ceramic was a uniform colour all the way through, so any dings shouldn't be silver unlike if it was a coating over the stainless.

I've cleaning this off but it isn't budging - can anybody recommend something I could try polishing with which won't change the surface appearance relative to the rest of the bezel?

I know watches will always pick up dings and scratches, which I usually don't mind, but I can't stop looking at this with it being a light coloured mark on a black surface.

Had something similar happened to me - ended up having to replace the entire bezel with RSC. They did give it to me for free though despite being outside my warranty, just FYI.

Try a very fine metal polish like POL. Apply with a q-tip. You probably hit the watch against something metallic and it left a small deposit on the surface of the bezel.

Once these marks are there, they are very difficult to remove, I would send to RSC.

Or a little citrus oil based adhesive remover. That should clean off.

If its a scratch (you can feel it with your fingernail)...nothing can fix it.
If its not a scratch, use a cotton cloth with a dab of alcohol/paint thinner/goof off to remove

It's a deposit of some other material on the surface of the ceramic. The sink in my bathroom has a similar silver mark from some beater I've been wearing when washing my stubble away possibly. Metal polish will probably rub it off.. eventually. I'd try that.

Try a slice of zucchini fairly thin like 1mm. Leave for 15 seconds.

If it REALLY bugs you, of course fix it. If it was me, I'd leave it. It's a Battle Scar from everyday wear. It's a Tool Watch, it comes with the territory.

Simichrome metal polish will do I if it's not a scratch and only a deposit of some sort.
