Looking to buy my very first Rolex Batman BLNR
Hello watch friends, I am new to these Rolex forums and have spent the past month reading thread after thread about the Rolex Batman. I reside in San Francisco California and have visited in person to countless AD’s and called almost every AD within the Bay Area trying to secure a Rolex Batman. Unfortunately the most common response I have gotten were the following:
“Sorry we are no longer talking deposits for the BLNR and the waitlist for the watch is currently closed.” ‘We can possibly add you to our waitlist if you come to our store in person and establish yourself as a customer and buy jewelry from us’. ‘Sorry our waitlist is about 1 year now and we need a full deposit.’ ”Sure we can add you to our waitlist but you are guaranteed one if you put down a $3,000 deposit.’ So my question for you guys is what’s my best approach at securing the watch?? I also want the watch shipped out to Boston so I can avoid taxes since no one seems to want to give any discounts! Help!!!! |

I would recommend that you get one from DavidSW or another trusted seller on here for a small premium but not more than $10,500. You can try calling other ADs in other cities or neighboring states but they’ll probably tell you the same thing.
Unfortunately anything popular will be hard to buy for anyone without an established relationship. If you had been in the market for one in 2016 or early last year the maximum wait time would’ve been somewhere between 3-4 weeks.

walking out of the boutique with one in SF will run you like $9700 @ 8.5% tax, unless you have a method to ship out of state. at that rate, pay another $300 and get a Brand new one from the classifieds. $10k is about what they sell for new. click around and make some offers. can get for $9500-9800 preowned from private sellers.

You are also in a very tough market. For something like a BLNR try DavidSW or a TS on the forum.
Another route would be if you have any close friends with strong AD relationships that could source one in a couple weeks or months. |

Going to echo what folks have already said, I’d try one of the trusted sellers like DavidSW. If you want, try going into a few of the ADs in your area and have a conversation with them...they may be willing to help you out. If not, you can always go the TS route.

Statistically you have a better chance of getting struck by lighting than finding a BLNR in stock at any of your AD’s.

You're still thinking of discounts which is totally impossible and if ADs sense this they will never sell to you, so make it clear you know the current market sitch and that you are prepared to wait a year or longer and put down a deposit, show you are serious and current.
