Stopped by the AD today just to do some looking

Checked out some Omegas, Pateks, Brietlings, and of course....Rolex. A month or so ago I purchased my first Rolex, a SS Sub Date, and literally within hours was pondering what my "next" watch would be . Just wondering - after purchasing your first Rolex, was your next watch a Rolex as well or did you go with another brand? Any regrets?

Also, I know there's been a lot of discussion lately around the scarcity (or abundance) of certain models due to the economy but I must say that over here in OH my AD's selection was looking kind of wimpy . They didn't have any SS GMTs, SS Daytonas, or DSSDs but at the same time my guy did say they're feeling the impact of the economy in their sales. Guess OH must just not be a hot spot for acquiring the watches that are in demand. Just thought I'd share

I was at any AD on Friday, and in the case they had a SD, DSSD, LV, GMT IIc, what seemed like all the YM's & both YMII, all Daytonas, even the Leopard (plus there was a guy choosing between the Black or White dial SS off to the side) new WG Sub, Zebra DJ, you name it..they had it. I was very impressed. The inventory they had was amazing! Seemed like business as usuall in this AD!

My local AD also has a very slim display. Definitely no GMT IIc or SS Daytona's. I think if they had 25 total Rolex's would be too much. But no loss here. As far as I'm concerned, they're only good for window shopping. Why pay a premium price when you can buy from Anastasios...

Here in Mexico the economy has taken a beating. I was at the only Rolex AD in town on Thursday, and the manager said sales were very slow given the time of the year. Their inventory has been the same for the past six months.

On another note, I was talking to my US AD in NC two weeks ago, and she said they were hurting in a big way, compared to years past. Although she didn't explicitly say it, she alluded to the fact that they would be allowed to provide 'deep' discounts. I didn't ask any further questions, figuring if I'm really interested I'll find out when the time comes.

Also, when I was in NC in late October, I stopped by Carlyle & Company, who is notorious for NO discounts. I was just standing in front of the Rolex case and the sales lady walked up to me and opened with, "Ten percent off anything in the case". She said all of the sales associated had their hours cut back so nobody would have to get axed, but sales were dismal. All the NC AD's had all of the SS models on display, except for the Daytona and SDDS.

Other parts of the country may be in better, or possibly, worse shape.

Mine had LV, GV, GMT IIc x 2, DSSD, YM. Not too shabby.
