Rolex coronet

After reading lots of posts and seeing pix of the coronet etched into the crystal of newer Rolex, I got to thinking last evening. I had my 1993 N serial TT Sub overhauled at the Toronto RSC last summer, including a new crystal. I phoned them today and the girl there confirmed that the new replacement crystal should have the coronet. It took me a while with my cheesy magnifying glass to find it, but it's there. I'll be darned. A 1993 with the coronet!

It's definitely hard to spot but, once you do, it's quite something.

Is that the crystal or the caseback?

The "S" is supposed to be laser etched inside the laser etched coronet on the crystal

Hey Al,

Grab a hold of a 10x loupe and take a close look at the new etching on your crystal at '6'. It should look like this!!

Thanks, J.J., I'll do that. Now I see where the S should be that all the other guys mentioned.

Thanks for this good pic. I never looked for the etching, as I always assumed it was not visible to the naked eye. Also, I wear my Mil GV most the time and that does not have any etching (i think?). When I looked closely at my others, I could see it (even though my eyesight isn't what it used to be!).

Use the flashlight on the dial and it would be visible with the naked eye !

Well I never just found it on my 1994 Explorer II that had the crystal replace in July
Seems weird to have a laser etched coronet just over Swiss-T<25

Old threads are still good threads Cheers Al

I had my DD JUST serviced for complete overhaul in NYC RSC and there is NO laser etched coronet to be found on my crystal. I have a 1997 model DD and they never etched it. I also had my GMT serviced 2.5 years ago for complete overhaul and new crystal [acrylic] and they never etched it either.

My Air King is NOW at RSC ad we will see if it comes back etched becasue I requested a NEW crystal [saphire] as the original one had a ever-so-small chip on the edge at 7 o'clock.

I will keep you posted.....

That is correct. The GV does not have it.
