Modified Rolex’s

Anyone heard of these or follow these guys? What your opinions on modding these out? The Daytona’s look kinda cool with the old school pushers and the color is interesting too...... thoughts on doing this? They look like they change the rotors out too....

That is nothing short of turning a gem into a turd. Which is exactly the road Omega has been going down with the PO lineup.

You’ll get mainly negativity on here....but I say it’s your watch to do what you want with...just difficult at service times as you’ll need a good independent watchmaker to service it.

Ya, didn’t think people would be fans of this. Why I was asking. I’d never do this to my Rolex. I’m sure they are expensive too

I like it. If I had a ton of cash to burn and the cost wasn't meaningful to me, I'd totally have a few colourful custom watches.

Watches like that aren't for the person who treats every Rolex as something special -- they're for folks who can indulge in something different just for fun.

Bamford used to do a custom Milgauss. When I enquired, they said they would service and repair it as a Rolex trained SC. Which I assume means that they have technical staff who were trained by Rolex. If I sent the watch back to Rolex they would either refuse it or put it back to OEM spec. I don't think anyone has tried yet. Would be interesting to find out.

I like the watch in the OP. Personally I wouldn't go there. But it's any owners right to do what they like.

I would kill for a GMT-2 with a new style 216570 gmt hand in red instead of the stock green old style hand.

Some Mods I’ve seen members perform are elegant - for example, Jocke’s Little Shop of Wonders.

But the more drastic ones aren’t as good IMHO.

I've seen some theme watches and I give them kudos for their talent. I do remember one Milgauss that I would definitely wear but it's really not my thing.

I just want sword hands to come back to the sub.

A 5517 modern release would be the one.

The Spike Lee watch pictured is not my cup of tea, however, take a look at their tribute to the 6263 - it's incredible.

From the reactions people generally give on here regarding modding watches I imagine everyone living in tan houses, driving gold Toyota Camry’s, having a wkly dinner at o’charleys, taking a yrly trip to Destin, and generally living the most boring lives ever...... if you wanna customize your stuff, go for it. Be unique is rarely a bad thing.

If you got the cash, why not? Its your watch and your money. Nothing wrong being unique. Only dead fishes go with the flow.

However i wouldnt do it as it kills the resale value unless ur some rich and famous celebrity. :D

Agreed, yet we know Franken-Rolex seem to be unloved here. Maybe it is more a 'religious' thing on TRF as The High Priests Of Rolex know what is best. Bummer because wife had any pick she wanted out of the AD's case; she chose a Franken DJ36 we saw online instead. Frankly, the Franken-Rolex is without a doubt 'her watch' and truly looks great. She also wears it 24/7/365 as a true daily beater. C'mon guys catch up, as my wife wears her Rolex 27/7/365 including shower, sleep, aerobics, ocean paddle boarding...

It is not blind negativity per se; there is a ton of wisdom in the words. Opinions are sought, opinions are given, thus accept them for what they are.
