Rolex Buckle Real or Fake?

Hello Everyone,

I am very new to this forum and in need of some of your expert advice. I have a 1970 Air King and recently purchased a lizard band without a buckle.
In my frequent searches on eBay I came across the buckle shown below. It is described as a vintage genuine Rolex ss buckle that has been polished. What are your thoughts? Real or fake? Thank you so much for any help you can offer.

...I see these...

...on the bay frequently.

I am not all knowledgeable about the buckles. Just a few of them. I PERSONALLY stay away from the ones you have pictured. The ones I am MOST familiar with with will be hallmarked (stamped, with the appropriate markings for whatever they are, ie, gold, or S/S, plaque, etc.

Even the ones I reference, you have to be careful, as there are counterfeits of them that are actually laser etched as opposed to the stamping.

Hope this helps, Stan.

Yeah, honestly its hit or miss with these buckles...they are so hard to authenticate because there is not much to them to copy..the only thing left is to do a metallurgical sample to see what its composed of and if it matches the rolex made one...way too much work for a buckle..just try and get it for as cheap as you can and enjoy it..
or buy from rolex only..
