So true. That’s why I posted here because I know there would be some that would put things in perspective for me. Sometimes I, and we, need that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think if a references passes an obvious visual inspection without any major flaws, that is good enough for me. If you bring a loope to an AD and look long and hard enough on any piece, you're probably going to find something. If the watch has been out of the coffin it is shipped in or tried on by anyone, there's a chance there's a micro abrasion. If you wear a brand new Rolex for a full day of normal use, there's going to be subtle scratches.
The only exception I would make are issues with the dial. While lint or defects on the dial could be missed initially, I do believe it is reasonable to request replacement or cleaning. The dial, hands, etc should more more less flawless. That said, I don't get upset about a rehault not aligning 100% to the micrometer. |

it seems to me that in the UK you can sell it well dinged, with no impact on price

If you were selling it to them, they'd mention it,.....and try to beat you down on price.
After two weeks though, hmmm......good luck. Just a thought; maybe Rolex are selling QC 'seconds' due to excess demand. |

Are you planning to wear it or put it in a safe. If wearing it then live with it. Otherwise return it for something pristine if you can.

For the ones arguing that it's OK cuz it's a "tool" watch. Lol, Rolex hasn't been a "tool" watch in a LONG time. These are PURE luxury items. Come on, $8.5K for a time/date watch? A Shearwater Research Petrel 2 SA dive computer is $850.00. Or a Suunto Zoop Novo Dive Computer/Wrist Watch for $330.00. Those a "tool" device and tool device prices.

What Blemishes are acceptable when purchasing from an AD?

True. I can see what they mean though, it’s a purest perspective and one that I appreciate very much. The ones saying it will devalue the watch, I’m not sure if they are being serious or not but it’s not important to me. Unless I have a situation where I absolutely need to sell my Rolexes I have no intention of doing so. I just wanted some insight on what others think/would do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Inspect the watch when you pick it up and BEFORE you pay for it. After you walk out of the store, it becomes your problem. There is no way you can prove that they caused the marks.
Just enjoy your watch. |

Congrats on the watches. Rolex mass produced by about 1 million watches a year by robots so these minor defects seem to be the norm with Rolex. Grand Seiko, Patek, AP enjoy a higher level of quality but of course they're not Rolex.

Let it go through to the keeper or take it back to the dealer.

It was clearly an ejection mark/gouge from a Spring bar on the very top side of the top left lug. I didn't notice it until i got home with the watch. I took it back the next day and they sent it away for a couple of days to the RSC. It came back re-touched to remove the mark and the touch up was barely noticeable. I wore it occasionally for years with one service under its belt before finally having the full spa treatment and moving it on to a new home. |

I could barely see the mark from the pictures, so I tip my hat to your eyesight to be able see that while wearing the watch.
I'll bet that if you look at the bracelet and clasp you will see more noticable dings than that speck. In my opinion, I think there may be more important things in your life to focus on. |

Any blemish is fine as long as it can be washed off. Scratches are not OK.

You are going to add far worse dings, scratches and bents on your own - if you expect perfection for as long as you own it then straight to the safe! I'd just enjoy the watch.
