Update. I told my sales person that I want to cancel the BB and get the YM. She started mumbling something about it’s a special order and they usually can’t cancel it but they will make an exception. I told her that I thought she and the business would be happy if I’m going to spend 3X the original amount and give up my slot for a supposedly high demand Tudor. And then she said something stupid like what would happen if everyone canceled their order? And I retorted with, if every order that was canceled resulted in triple the revenue and you were left with a piece that is so much in demand you would be in order for a bonus!
So f%ck this. I am going to buy the YM, but not from them. I will keep the BB on order. Now she’s been texting me apologizing and saying that I misunderstood her.
Here’s my gripe. Either you can or you can’t switch my order. If you can, be grateful that I’m spending that much more and don’t be snarky. If you can’t, then that’s your policy and I accept it. Don’t act like you’re doing me a favor when I’m offering to drop $12K on a piece that they admitted has been sitting there for a couple of weeks.
Phew. Don’t ranting.

Yeh thats mental

Whats even crazier is in 2016 i got offered a blue one for £7k and now rrp is £8.5k i think

It’s never been a hot seller like other sports steel watches so I’m suprised they haven’t snapped your hand off going for the YM

As I own the Tudor GMT and have never really appreciated the YM, I say Tudor all day. As a tool watch fan I’ve just never quite understood what I’m supposed to do with a YM.

Definitely the blue on the YM sings to me, but the AD left a sour taste in my mouth so not sure what I want to do.

Stay strong and cut your ties with this store, there will always be future opportunities to deal with an AD that knows how to properly treat a customer.

Get the one you want - don't let the AD junk spoil the end result. The joy of the watch will outlast poor customer service. The YM has never been in as high demand as other sports models, since I own one I don't understand why, but if you're willing to pay retail, I'd be willing to bet another opportunity will come along fairly quickly if you skip this one.

Yeah, torn between just getting what I want today or just waiting and get it somewhere else out of spite. I’m Ok with keeping the Tudor, it’s a pretty watch and I have room in my collection.

Now is your time to push for the discount! She knows you were pissed off. If she wants to close the deal she should pony up a discount for your aggravation. Discount or walk.

Too many wealthy tourists here so they don’t need to discount.

If when she texts me again I will push for it. Good advice.

Do what makes you happy...but it sounds like you're letting one person steer you in the direction of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

FWIW, you should be able to beat 10k pretty easy on the secondary market for a nice example...no way would I pay retail for that watch. Do a quick search on watchrecon.com and see for yourself.

Tudor GMT is better "bang for the buck". I would only get the YM at a significant discount off US MSRP.

You’re right about being spiteful. But I would rather work with someone who sees the bigger picture. Like I said earlier, moving my deposit from one watch towards the purchase of another is either something they can or cannot do. If they can’t, fine. But if they can then don’t be weird about it.

I agree about finding it on the secondary market but it goes back to wanting to work with a local AD to build some history.

But I’m at home now and chilling with a beer. It’s just a watch. I’m certainly not going to lose sleep over it.

Thanks for chiming in!

Yeah, I pushed for a discount but they won’t so that makes my decision easier. There’s always something else around the corner.

I’ve had one for 18 years and while the bracelet is scratched up, the bezel is in great shape.

Pro tip that I learned only four years ago. Wash it by soaking in dish soap and warm water and the use a soft brush, rinse, and pat dry. The platinum and steel will absolutely glow.

Enjoy that watch!
