Show me your 16550 Black Dials (including blemishes, defects, etc)
I know the cream dials get all the love in this reference but I am interested in the black dialed version. I am considering getting a 16550 or 16570 but prefer the former for the slightly thicker case and fatter bezel font.
I do know the black dials can also have their flaws including spidering and bubbling. Anyone here in the forum have any pics they care to share? |

The truth is I love most Rolexes.
But the 16550 might just be my favorite reference, not only for the reasons you mentioned, but also for the short production run and the hunt involved in finding good ones. This is my current one: And here are a couple I've owned in the past: Great watch. Definitely share pics if you score one. -Grant |

Grant, your current one is $. I love that reference! Had it in a polar, and have always wanted a nice black 16550!

Thanks Jeff!
It actually has some super fine cracking on the dial which is really tough to photograph. And the glare from the dial has the odd effect of making the crystal appear smudged even when it's perfectly clean. And by all means, post when you get one and keep this thread going. Cheers, -Grant |
