If it speaks to you, do it. The 116500 is a terrific watch, but it may not be the watch for you.

I think you are right. There is always room for both. I have the 116500 white dial and a 116509 racing dial and I would not part with any. Would still consider the WG Oysterflex in the future, but I need to compare it first with a bracelet variant if ever it is introduced in 2019.

Looks like Congrats are in order. No second thoughts I'll bet, that was a good move. The 519 dial is a thing of beauty!..

Resurrection of this thread.....A good read as I’m in the same boat. As one of the posters mentioned it looks like the WD 116500 and the 116519 can play off each other nicely and it’s not a matter of one or the other.

Personally, I think the right move is to buy an oysterflex bracelet and custom endlinks and keep the 500.
This way, you are not stuck with the Oysterflex all the time. It is great, but the bracelet is also great. Also, for me personally I actually prefer the case design, lightness, and scratch resistance if steel. The black version of the 500 is especially nice on the Oysterflex. Not on a oysterflex. Imo you have a grail watch and one that can’t be beat. Gold is gold but you will regret it. Buy a oysterflex for your SS and call it a day. Best of both worlds. The SS looks miles better then the PM. Usually I would say get the PM like with the Pepsi. But there is a reason the SS model is so expensive on the grey. It’s a statement piece. You have to be super lucky or a VVIP to get one these days. You can get a PM oysterflex any day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I was lucky enough to get the 116500 shortly after release, and I loved it! At the time, I had been saving for a Royal Oak, but prioritised the Daytona, which is an indication of how highly I rate the 116500.
Over the two years, the Daytona got more wrist time than any other watch in my collection, it is super comfortable, perfectly sized, and a terrific looking watch. Then, in the summer of this year, I accidentally bought a 116519 on OF, and the 116500 was relegated to the safe. Since owning the WG, I wore the 116500 only a couple of times, and both time because I thought I should rather than because I wanted to. This is in no way a reflection on the 500, but a reflection on the 519. Because of the lack of wrist time, and the very recent addition of a BLRO and a Patek 5990, I reluctantly sold my 11650 to a friend of mine yesterday. I’m sad to see it go, and I could have kept it in the safe as an investment, but if I’m not going to wear the watch, there are better ways to invest the money. The dial on the 116519 is something very special and pictures don’t do it justice. The OF is very comfortable, albeit not as comfortable as the Steel bracelet on the 116500. I haven’t found the gold to be any more of a scratch magnet than the steel was, and the extra weight of the gold case feels great. If I could only have one watch, it would almost certainly be the 116500. That’s not to say that the 116519 can’t be worn as a daily, it most certainly can, but not sure it’s quite as versatile as the 500. But as I have other steel watches, it’s a no-brainer for me, as the 116519 really is something very special. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Don’t sell your 116500. You’ll missed it.

After some thought I decided against selling any of them. Just got word my AD received the 116519LN and will scoop it up on Friday. Very excited. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If you like white gold Rolex, then why does it matter what other's like? I don't understand :)

I have both 116500 Black and white. I ordered the 116519LN few month still waiting. I m afraid netheir 116500 will get wrist time once WG arrives.

LVc and the Explorer because I’m not a fan of either particularly. From a purist perspective, probably the 116500 and the Sub LN because that would give you a nicely rounded collection. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
