What this guy said here. It’s just not worth it. I was in the same boat about to pay 21-23k for a Daytona but then because of this form I came to my senses You have 2 really great watches. Both are hard to acquire it’s not like you just can walk into an AD and get either. Be happy with what you have now. Work that relationship with your AD. Tell them you want to order one and you don’t care if it takes a few years. The Daytona will be all the more special after waiting for so long once you get it . Or at least wait until baselworld see what else comes out or let’s say the blnr does discontinue ? Then you may have more cash out in that one if you must pick one . At the end of the day why flush 7-8,000 down the toilet to get the Daytona above retail and have to dump a great watch in order to do so. If you want a Daytona that bad buy a 2 tone below retail to help that itch. And keep the ones you have now. Put some color in that collection with the yellow gold |

I wouldn't pay over MSRP for any watch, let alone a Daytona; and I definitely wouldn't "dispose" of a Submariner or GMT to pay over MSRP for a Daytona. Talk to your AD and get on a waitlist, or the very least, pause for a spell and think about what you really want. Waiting often proves to be a good thing.

Sell the BLNR while it's above MSRP, you'll get the most return for your money to put towards the Daytona. Keep the sub date since it's at/almost MSRP.

If you really want the Daytona then I’d do it I guess. Lose the one your heart tells you has to go. If your honest with yourself you’ll know which one you like better. Don’t listen to others, do what makes you happiest. They are just watches.
That being said, if i had decided to do it, I’d probably sell the sub. The BLNR is just more interesting, harder to get and worth more. So I’d keep it. Sub is much easier to reasonably replace down the road, both in terms of finding and paying for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’d keep the Liam Neeson (LN). But I’m biased, I love my Submariner.

I would sell the 2016 BLNR and benefit from the premium which will go towards your DaytonaC. Before proceeding I recommend you visit a grey dealer and try on the DaytonaC.

I would sell the sub, just because it will be easier to get than the blnr in the future if you ever want to add it back. Good luck!

Not answer to your question, really, but I’d keep what you have and skip the Daytona.

I'd wait on the daytona, save up some more and wait for prices to fall.

Ditch the BLNR the sub is just so versatile and such a classic; and you’ll get more money

If you sell the BLNR you will get more money for it than if you sold the Submariner, BUT (and it’s a big but) if you EVER felt you missed the BLNR you’d either have to (i) wait for quite some time or (ii) pay a sizeable premium on the gray market.
If you however sell the Submariner you will get less money (the Sub LN is more common and doesn’t command the same premium), and importantly if you ever got seller’s remorse and wanted to get another one if would be both easier to find and cheaper to acquire. I wouldn’t call Submariner LNs ubiquitous, but in the circles I hand around there are SO many of them. If I were you I wouldn’t sell either (especially to buy a daytona at double MRSP - I advise you try the Daytona on and see if it speaks to you), but if I absolutely HAD to sell the choice would be very simple. Sell the Submariner. You will get less money for it, but if you ever decide to get one again you will get one faster and for less money than if you sold the BLNR. Submariners in their LN form will always be available. Any advice you get to the contrary is simply to make you add one mistake (selling the BLNR, which though not impossible is not an easy watch to get) to another mistake (paying double for a SS Rolex...) |

Better try one on in person. I too loved the lack dial Daytona and could have bought it at one point. Problem is that it wore super small. It’s 38.5mm. I was super disappointed. Plus not having a date would have been a issue for me. If your used to 40mm watches with maxi cases the Daytona will feel super small. Just because it looks good in pictures you better try one on in person. I was like you and was 100 percent going to buy it... then I tried it on and now I’m over it. I would sell the BLNR only because if I was paying a huge premium I would want as much inflated value I could get. $3-5k is pretty good. But in reality if I liked the Daytona so much and I liked the fit of it I would honestly sell both. I would sell high on the BLNR and you obviously don’t care for the sub date since you only bought it on impulse because it was at retail. You will be in a honeymoon phase with your Daytona for months. By that time you can save back up and get what you truly want as a second watch. Rolex might update the movement in the BLNR and you will end up looking like a genius.

It's pretty easy to get caught up in the hype of the forums and social media so I vote to stand pat. Check out what's new with Basel. Something new may be introduced that you see on IG and want to spend $10K over retail :) In the meantime you've got a couple really nice watches to spend time with, one of them you just received. What's the hurry? |

Sell the BLNR. I think it’s way over valued currently...and I have one.
Even if Rolex discontinue (which I don’t believe they will), the hype will fizzle out eventually. Use the funds toward a 116500 LN, if you can’t just add to your collection. However, I’d go for the white dial. Anyway, I have both and I’d easily give up the BLNR for the Daytona...not even a second thought. |

Glad that you re happy with your choice, buying. watch is a personal thing and you need to engage with it. Looks great on your wrist, which did yous ell in the end?
