Help identify Rolex watch

Hello, I hope I am posting this to the appropriate forum. I have been searching the internet for quite sometime now to try and find a picture of the Rolex that I own, but have had no luck. I aam posting a couple of pictures of the watch in question (pictures are not the greatest quality, terrible digital camera). The face of the watch says Rolex Precision Dustproof Shock Resisting. I am thinking it is likely in the1950's era, but I will leave it to you folks to help me date this one.

Thank you. I found this watch years ago at an auto salvage yard while searching for parts and found it underneath a car seat. There was no strap and the crystal was pretty scratched up. I took it into a pawn shop and the guy offerecd me $20 i think.lol. I decided that it was worth hanging onto and several years later I had a rolex strap put on and had the crystal face replaced at a rolex dealer.

Whew!!! I believe you will be very glad that you did not let it go. I will assume the person at the pawn shop had no idea what you had either so we won't bash him quite yet lol. I can'twait to see what others have to say.

The "person" at the pawn-shop knew pretty well what you had...he just wanted to steal it from you.
Anyway I think the case was made by Dennison in Canada, value not a lot...maybe $1,300.-
Let me know more numbers.

Yeah , I'm sure he did too. I guess he figured that since I was about 13-14 at the time that I woudn't know. So any idea on what year and model this is? I am thinking of taking into a dealer and getting it appraised.

Well the thing that strikes me the most is those words "Dustproof" and "Shcok Resisting" which where the qualities of the OYSTER watch which was on all dials since the 40's I think so... The "Precision" word is something you find on several dials from Rolex in the 40's but not the other 2 instead the dial would read "Rolex" then "Oyster" (or "Oysterdate" or "Oyster Perpetual") then "Precision" (or "superpecision"). That bracelet also seems out of place it looks like a 60's bracelet.
I'll keep on searching...
Plase someone correct me if I am wrong.

As far as I can see it is a 1950s ref. 6298 model.

The bracelet was replaced about 10 years ago at an AD.

I took the watch to an AD today and founf out the following.

The stem is not the original stem. The case is not a rolex case as it is missing the markings and the back casing has no rolex numbers .
The movement is rolex and is Calibre 1210
There was another number I was given , but not sure what it is for "N8J849"

The face and hands are rolex as well, but it was suggested that i could send the watch to Rolex and have them take a look, but at $250 minimum I dont think it is worthwhile. It keeps great time and thats all that really matters.

It looks great - it is a great conversation piece. I am no expert on service, but if you intend to wear it on some sort of regular basis I would inquire about getting it serviced. If not for you, for generations to come. Thanks for sharing.

A bit off topic, but has anyone ever heard of Mimo watch?
My wife inherited a beautiful watch from her grandmother and I have been unsuccesful in finding any info on it. We did have an appraisal domne it a few years ago, but the company that did the appraisal could not find anything in all of his books on this watch, so it was appraised on only the value of the diamonds and palladium at $3000 cdn.

I seen one watch that is very similar on e-bay selling for almost 20k USD, so I am thinking that I may need to have another appraisal done. I know that it is a rare watch likely from the 1920 era.

There are 34 diamonds with a total weight of approx 0.65 carats and the watch is stamped paladium 14k with the initials RDB. The movement is stamped Mimo Swiss Adjusted 17 jewels.

I realize that this is a Rolex forum, but I thought that maybe amongst the people here someone would have some reference or could point me in the right direction.

My pictures are terrible, but it is very similar to this other one I seen on e-bay other than the fact the other one has many more diamonds.
