6538: Brevet, cross, or both correct?
Did the 6538 originally come with a coronet-and-BREVET crown or a coronet-with-cross crown? Or did particular years have one or the other? Or was it another case of Rolex using whatever was sitting around?

Brevet in large letters. Small crowns with +. Usually. If memory serves.

![]() This is THE only crown I've seen on 6200, 6538, or 5510. I've only seen small + crowns on 6204 and 6205. Like my 6205. ![]() ![]() I've never seen a + crown on a 5508 despite a recent thread. All 5508 have a - crown like mine. ![]() Not sure with the small crown 6536.... Now cue the keyboard commanders who have never held a non crown guard submariner or researched one. |

I’ve never seen a 5508 with anything but the underline on the crown.
In terms of big crown, I’ve maybe (luckily) held 7 or so in hand... all had “Brevet” |
