Vintage Tissot Seastar Navigator Chronograph with Tropical Dial
Originally from the early 1970s, this colorful chronograph was part of the Seastar line, and features the reliable manually wound Valjoux 7734 movement. These funky chronographs are becoming tougher to find, and it's even harder to find such great value in a vintage watch. Coming in at 40mm, the case size wears like a modern watch but with vintage charm, especially with the nice evenly aged creamy tritium markers and the very unique tropical dial with red-handed accents.
Take a look at our detailed photos and the condition description below: Case: 40mm case in good vintage condition as pictured. There is surface wear throughout but no damage to the case and it appears to retain its original finish of vertical brushing on the dial side and polished sides. Bezel: The original fixed tachymetre bezel is fully legible and in very good condition as pictured. Dial/Hands: Original dial and handset in excellent condition as shown. The dial has developed a tropical patina and varies from blue to purple to gunmetal in color, changing with the light. The original tritium hour markers are intact and have developed a wonderful patina along with the original hands. The running and chronograph seconds hands are accented in red with an additional red line bisecting the minute counter register. Caseback: Original screw back in very good condition with some scratching as pictured. Crystal: Excellent condition acrylic crystal free from any major scratching. Movement: Original signed Valjoux 7734 hand wound chronograph movement in excellent mechanical condition. All functions work as they should including the chronograph start, stop, and reset to zero with good timekeeping. Service history is unknown. Bracelet/Strap: New olive leather vintage style strap with stainless buckle. Accessories: None. Sold as watch only. Price is $900 shipped insured FedEx overnight CONUS via PayPal or wire (3% discount for wire). US sale preferred, international sales will pay the cost of shipping. Face to face in the Boston area also welcome. I have many references available. Please feel free to ask any questions. Thanks for looking! |
