Took a little risk today.

Decided to grab some compound and a dremel and polish the center links on my seiko samurai’s new hexad band. It was definitely A LOT of work but I think it paid off.

No problem. Definitely makes the watch feel more premium right? The watch itself looks expensive but the original band is just to cheesy in my opinion.

Brave to use a dremel with small diameter buffing disk. I’ve done PCL’s myself before but with a larger tool and buff.

I’m afraid you’ve put many grooves into the Polished center links. I isolated one side of the bracelet and reoriented your photo to illustrate.



It’s not impossible to correct, but a larger diameter wheel combined with less aggressive compound and lower RPM can bring back the factory mirror finish.

Yeah. I did notice that. It was never factory polished. It was brushed. I do see some lines for sure. I thought it was just because the factory brushing was deep. So a bigger wheel would help take that down? What polish\compound would anybody recommend? I’ll give it a finishing touch

Also just to be clear that was actually after my first polish. I did do t one more time after that picture. It did smooth some of it out but there are definitely some grooves still. I do have a larger wheel that I can put on a regular battery drill. Do you think a regular aluminum polish is enough to smooth it out? Or I have the white compound(that I used for stainless steel) and also the red compound that is recommended for gold. What would you recommend. I appreciate the info and will gladly finish it up and repost some pics!

I don’t think one is best, but the tool + Experience is key.

The tool must be locked down and preset to the right speed. Then you present the item to be polished to the wheel.

I could be wrong but my guess is you were handholding the tool? The larger diameter wheels (at least 4”) will help and there are kits out there with an assortment.
