Omega Lum service
Hello,
I have an omega and the lum came off at 4 o’clock. I took it to a jeweler and the cost to replace was over 1k which I was surprised by. Is this standard? They said the lum came off and may be stuck in the movement. Now I’m concerned about wearing and watch and while I’ll likely just send it to omega for service I was curious if anyone had heard of this and if it is truly that expensive to fix. Thanks Ps sorry for the odd picture but I had to resize to get it to fit |

Not sure if the estimate provided a full service and new dial. I think the chrono service from Omega is approx $800. $200 for a new dial sounds about right.
If you have an Omega Boutique near you, bring by and get their take. |

Lume paste costs very little, take it to a local watch shop. They can paint on 1 hour marker for very little cost
If you take it to a dealer, they ONLY replace. Your dial looks great, it would be a waste to throw away a good dial if all it needs is a touch of lume |

Do you know the service history of the watch? Have you owned it since it was new? If so, and if it has been more than 6 or 7 years since it was new or since its last full maintenance service, then I guess it's time for regular maintenance anyhow. Are the details of a full maintenance service familiar to you? You can read about it on Omega's site, but even there they don't do justice to the extent of refurbishing an Omega Service Center goes to, especially with chronographs.

The movement also needs cleaning to make sure none of the lume got free inside of it. |
