Well looks like I’m sending my sbgc205g in for service.
I was at my daughters band concert and as the bands before my daughter were playing, I looked down at my watch and gasped. I couldn’t find the chrono hour hand. Then I found it...
Not very pleased that I’ll be without this for awhile. But what do you do. I hope they can permanently fix it and that it’s not a recurring problem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Oh dear, that’s not good.
Chronographs used to go back to Japan, but that may’ve changed in last year or two – even so, it may be assessed by Seiko US and decided that only the hand needs re-fitted or replaced, if still insecure. Hooefully, if that’s all it needs, you’ll not be without it for all that long. |

Never good. But things happen and Seiko will make it like new again. I always dislike the time it takes to get a watch back and even with a lot of options in my collection, I always miss the watch being serviced.

I feel for you, that’s a shame. How did it happen? Is it still under warranty? I could be wrong here, but all SDs need to go back to Japan. As it’s the dial side that’s affected and the SD movement that’s not really affected, then maybe it can be resolved closer to where you reside. In case you’ve not thought about it, I would recommend that you check out the dial for scratches using a loupe. Also, does the crystal have an internal AR coating that could have been lightly scratched by the loose fallen off hand? I would shoot Seiko Japan an email. Crazy that a hand should fall off like that? If you need a direct email address feel free to pm me, as I had to contact them a few months back regarding my snowflake.

Yes, still under warranty and I don’t really know what happened. I baby this watch and it’s never taken a tumble. The only thing I can really think that happened was some enthusiastic clapping at my daughters concert. But if it truly happened because of that, I’d sort of be disappointed in Grand Seiko.

Not exactly true. Only certain models need to go back to JP.
But the particular one the op has is one of them. The following calibers and collections can not be serviced locally and must be sent to Japan for movement service: 1BXX 4SXX 5R86 7B24 7B25 7R87 9S25 9R86 9R96 9T82 S760 S770 S771 6SXX 6L35 All Credor models. All Galante models. |

Well, even though I’d be disappointed, it wouldn’t diminish my love for Seiko/GS at all. These are the brands that I’ve evolved in to loving the most. I also just sent it off to be serviced. Talking to my AD they said they have never seen a grand seiko with a hand off like mine. They’ve been selling GS longer than most AD’s in the states and this is a first. Now I’m always skeptical of statements like that, but it did make me feel better about it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
