In my opinion, the best route is research, research, research. Rolex AD, Chrono24, Ebay, sellers local, national and international will give you the best idea. You’ll probably find you will have to forsake the family as it tends to be a very time-consuming and addictive affair. Your other half will accuse you of having an affair and you’ll have to put your hands up.

Luxury still costs

It’s good to be alert about what might happen in the luxury market, which is what Rolex is. No drop in price means we are safe, for now. It’s the bubble that traders are creating that we have to worry about.

Sub non date - Rolex 6.3k - Trader 8k+
Batman/Pepsi ceramic - Rolex 7.75k - Trader 12K+
Sky-Dweller steel - Rolex 11.8k - Trader 16K+
Daytona - Rolex 10.5k - Trader 19k+

And the list goes on. The mark-up is obscene Fair traders have to follow suit as greed dictates. Sickening! Soon.....
a) they’ll shoot themselves in the leg as those prices not only have to stop increasing but be reduced significantly. it’s unsustainable where things are now.
b) the bubble they’ve created will burst at some point because a lot are looking but wont buy at those ridiculous prices - I certainly won’t.

If we want a reasonably priced watch, Rolex have ‘em if and when they’re willing to stock shelves. Problem is, the traders sniff stuff out information like that and that’s why we’re here. So.......what to do, what to do?!!

Keep looking looking looking for that deal. May come from anywhere but that’s the world of high end watches - it’s the chase. Just my opinion.

No worries bro. Watches are a really great love affair but the subject does need
our serious attention. Let’s face it, the watches at AD are expensive to begin with compared to TAG, Longines, Onega and middle market brands which are not exactly a cheap toy all things considered. Using the term regular people, we actually believe and want to nuture the dream of owning a really nice piece or 2, or upgrading the vintage or modern - whatever the case may be, the dream can be a reality. That’s a good feeling to have and nuture. There certainly is alot of good to be had out of this passion we find ourselves in while we have to be aware of issues that come with the territory.

Good luck with your dreams and have a great day.

Prices in Brazil exploded! A basic oyster perp is like usd 7.800 .

I believe many dealers are going to close doors.

Our currency exchange rate exploded ( usd x real).

I believe prices won’t get low as before the crisis.

Does Rolex monitor or have any kind of oversight on AD's... In Melbourne it is impossible to get any SS pieces, yet there are sellers (one in particular) who seems to just take photos in the AD and then sell for a 50% markup...

It's a Pity you havent got an updated price for a Rolex 5508.

After hearing back from Sotheby's in Hongkong I was rather dismayed at their suggestive value for my watch

I'm not sure when Canada last had a price increase, but these are previous USA prices.

The only change is for new 2020 models.

Exception for Brasilian prices that got around 35% increase since january.

I bough a Sub C Date and a 2020 GMT BLNR in Brazil and the prices were approximately 10% more expensive than in the UK, and recently a few ADs have contacted me, and the prices are ridiculously high. Very disappointing. Back to the UK ADs then....
