How does he have such a long-running show?? He ebbs and flows so much on the daily.
Well I do not disagree, this run is tired and it is the end of a quarter, during the summer in the middle of a crisis.

You can hold or even average down but no one ever went broke taking a profit.

I also don't necessarily disagree...more of a comment on Cramer's tenacity to be bullish one day and bearish the next. Rinse, repeat for him.

True however, his network does the same thing on everyone of their shows. CNBC gets called out repeatedly online but they are in the business to sell ads first and foremost, everything else is entertainment and they even advertise their shows that way.

Looks like the northeastern states beat the EU to it, relatively speaking.

One of the likely causes of today's slump.

We also broke resistance levels.

Talking Stocks 2.0

There has been a lot of talk that things are looking similar to the dot-com bubble, which I don't disagree with; due diligence becomes extremely important if you do choose to invest in these individual tech names (let's not forget that companies like AMZN and EBAY rose from the ashes of that bust).

There are quite a few FOMO / momentum stocks out there and FSLY probably got swept up in some of that over the last couple days, but if you look at their business model and who they deliver to, I think you'll be pleased with where they are headed. Listen to the Q1 earnings and the raised guidelines that they put out, as well as recent achievement in edge capacity.

I got punished today 8% loss in FSLY... relative to everything else that’s a serious drop. Guess I gotta hold for now

Seems like everything is getting hammered today. I may hop on FSLY today since it did finally take a dip.

As I mentioned, long-term investors should not be worried for FSLY. They'll be a machine. Just a couple articles from today alone:

https://www.fool.com/investing/2020/...stock-now.aspx

https://seekingalpha.com/article/435...ly-and-furious (shared by Brian earlier today too)

This is prime buying opportunity...scoop up the dips. If anything, this gets rid of the weak hands from the Robinhood crowd, and not the actual investors that know what the company's about.

Tech for the win.

Along with VIAC for those looking at entry into a streaming service but not at the NFLX cost.

I feel like we should have another thread to post PnLs and strategies.. I am rather opinionated on this subject as I've spent quite a bit of time and effort in investing and trading stocks, options, and some futures.

Averaged down into CVS now and sold VZ for a profit

Not seeing anything else today so far. Even though the DOW looks down big, many stocks are just not off that much outside the hype and momentum names.

Still watching CSCO, WM, ABBV and MS

Yep. I've got only nine tickers on my simple scanner - looking at +2Bln market cap, average 2Mm volume, and price crossed above the 200 day. $MS isn't looking too bad, almost like a near-term bullish pennant.

Hope you're liking the FSLY action at close. Hold for 3-5 years and don't let go.

I like it - they're shifting to streaming, and Q1 results were very strong compared to what the market expected. My cost basis is at $20, and I do feel that $23 is still a decent entry here.

They also have a dividend and have green ahead for them, in my opinion.

I think you’re right and went ahead and put a small buy on them. Thanks for the tip

I hope you did some of your own due diligence too!

Please don't just take my word for it; this is a great board for ideas, but doing your own homework is essential. Hope I'm preaching to the choir there.

Excellent interview on valuations and the current market. So many people these days look at certain young companies and say "that valuation is absurd!", without truly looking at the business model or what that word actually means.

"And the 1990s dot-com boom and bust. I had to talk about Amazon.com [ticker: AMZN], whether I wanted to or not in 1997. How can a company with very little revenues, and everything in the future, be worth what it is? There was nothing on valuing young companies in 1997. I had to improvise what I’ve known about valuation."

Need to subscribe to Barrons to read but the other issue today regarding valuation is that stock splits are almost non-existent in todays world and trying to get someone to read a financial statement and analyze a business are difficult.

Scale is what makes these companies grow so fast and why their stock can be valued highly and remain that way.

And it a bit of irony just like the board we are on, people want things they own to be worth a lot of money and when things are discounted they tend to believe they will not be a good value in the future.

There's definitely a lot of "here and now" in today's market - more and more traders versus actual investors; traders who will give up on a valuable company because it's been red for a couple of days.

I'm in my mid-30's so not incredibly old, but I do feel that the immediate gratification that everyone wants with everything these days has translated to the stock market as well for the younger generation. If it isn't making 10% gains daily, it must be a loser...

Yes a by product of the massive liquidity and the gaming aspect of bitcoin. As I said few people can read a balance sheet or do their own analysis, they see a symbol followed by some numbers and they see $$$$

Does not matter to me, I am happy to take their money.

The other fascinating point that many people do not understand is that no new money is ever created in the secondary market. Every trade has two sides so for one person to make money another person has to lose. No one is always on the winning side, the key is to keep your gains protected and know when to take a step back.

Looks like more selling at the open, perhaps the end of quarter rebalancing and profit taking to go to bonds as the already posted article said from a few days ago.

We are backing and filling here at the top of the most recent trading range, I am watching and have stops set accordingly but I am not too worried as thin volumes could just as easily spike to the upside on any piece of good news.

Still watching a few names though not finding much value here

I've got my eye on BA, HON and ALXN.

Might buy a couple NKE calls today as well, if it goes red. Earnings this afternoon, post-close.

There is no stopping this market.

Everyone here knows I'm no advocate of sideline-sitting, and days like today are why. We can have a healthy selloff, and then on a bit of good news, continue up.

Let your money work for you and find the stocks to beat the indexes.
