Literally just opened the box containing my new shoes 30 minutes before seeing this thread. I thought I'd treat myself to something you don't see every day if ever, full African elephant. I haven't even tried them on yet! They're a perfect compliment to my belt matched with a blackened sterling/18K buckle by John Allen Woodward.

Does anyone here have experience with the French shoe brand Paraboot? They make a nice split toe derby that I'm interested in.

Saw them at one of their Paris stores a couple of years ago and was very impressed with the quality. Just did not fit me well.

Great for casual wear, good value too depending on how long they last

It's just all about health, happiness & family. The rest are just necessary inconvenience we have to deal with.

Just got my first pair of Crockett and Jones for my wedding. https://www.crockettandjones.com/alex-black-calf/

Easily the best quality shoes I've owned. Could feel it instantly on touch and after I tried them on. I didn't expect that, as I have some pretty decent Cheaney dress shoes. I thought the difference would be evident but not that drastic.

Will have to wear them long-term to see results but as of now they live up to the hype. The price is high but good luck finding dress shoes that will beat it in that price bracket.

Bad news is that I can't see myself downgrading. If I need a pair of brown shoes, I'll probably have to make my wallet cry and go with Crockett and Jones again.

Have to felt pretty much the same way after getting my first pair of C&Js as well. The only thing was after a few I also then got some even higher tier shoemaker shoes and boots as well. However C&Js were an eye opener for me as well.

Bench made or Hand made line?

Just their normal line. I don’t even want to think about getting into the higher tier. I’m happy to stay here and let my wallet breath lol.

As I get older, hopefully with a lot of success, I’ll open my eyes more. For now ignorance is bliss .

Thanks guys

The only thing I cannot get over is the brand label stitched on the outside of the shoes... Which I discovered after asking the question here.

Very good, I have a couple of pairs of Cheaney who were bought by Churche's after Prada bought 83% of Churche's. Lol, you couldn't make it up. As it turns out, I have a couple of pairs of each and my wife has a Prada bag.

You will enjoy your new shoes.

If the soles wear out, do yourself a favour and ship them to Dipak at Durasole in Wynberg.
Awesome workmanship.

AMEN brother!!!

Just bought a black pair of comforts this Fall to complement my chestnut pair. Now I am thinking about plain brown as well.

What was your impression of the regular craftsman? I have never tried those.

Really pleased with this Cheaney Hythe. Excellent English Brogue, details are well executed, comfortable and Dainite sole.
