I think it matters to CH for a couple of reasons. It’s a RBR sweep - the superior result. Dietrich Mateschitz - a fitting tribute. Contract - a significant performance payout for many (CH, PER, GP). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

There is a code of conduct there. OCO knew he could try on the Super Softs and VER might accommodate, but not if it’s in a dangerous move. OCO paid for the mistake twice - VER also got penalized for the weigh-bridge shoving - and Officials got penalized because someone had to put up with VER for 2 events where he sat in the Stewards Room as part of his “community service”. …don’t ask Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

For anyone thinking about the Las Vegas race next year. Seems like a bargain.

The Official Formula One Thread!
It’s Tuesday in Abu Dhabi; the cargo jets left São Paulo so we should just let the whining go now
Set-up is such a sanguine time. Not just for the prospect of a duel for P2 in WDC, (oh yeah, the VER/PER soap opera will be at Fever pitch) but for other things to watch this weekend. OK - maybe not for the majority here - I mean, this IS the F1 thread! But for your reading pleasure - the F2 series and the support series. Storylines: F1: Will it be LEC or PER? F2: Will SAR get his requisite Super License points? F4: Who is DUN, and why should I care? See story below… F1: Nothingburger unless your performance bonus is tied to a super sweep. But the final Constructor standings twixt MB & Fer. is in play. F2: This could be a Greek tragedy for SAR - while being a lifeline for MSC. F4: https://formulascout.com/dunne-heads...u-dhabi/100938 That F4 non-champ event means you’re on the biggest stage to impress future sponsors, academies, and team bosses. This is the seedbed of future WDC contenders 5-10 years in the future. Check your local availability of a livestream - Sky/ESPN isn’t doing it in my market. If I could share an F4 -to- US football analogy - why do we go to Friday Night HS football? So when one lad who’s on that field makes it to the NFL SuperBowl, we can say, “You know, I saw him play as a 15y.o. and look at him now!” Full schedule is in the link below (Times are Gulf Standard Time (GST), UTC +4 / No daylight saving time, same UTC offset all year. For we in US ET zone, Abu Dhabi is 9 hours ahead of NYC) Sked: https://amp.formula1.com/en/latest/a...KMxtHGA4d.html And you know what? As long as we’re all assembled at this Yas Wünderpark, let’s just play some more after the GP race is done…PIA & GAS are chuffed: https://amp.formula1.com/en/latest/a...iY7AvKcRh.html Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I’d like to ask that we don’t slide into personal attacks on drivers and/or their families. It’s a slippery slope.
A while back, this thread was a centimeter away from getting locked when members got into racial and political rants. I’m not the thought police, you can think as you like - I respect that. But - just because you can think it doesn’t mean you have to say it. It’s a nice warm day, where the palm trees sway, and the crystal clear waters play, until the moonrise arrives over the bay. Can we keep it that way? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Let's not forget that Max admitted crashing into Lewis deliberately in the post-race interview. If he carries on like he is, someone is going to get seriously injured or killed. |

Like NASCAR, F1 cars are very safe for typical bumper-car action. American viewers love seeing wrecks too. The next race should be very exciting since it doesn't really matter much points-wise and the cars are now wholly disposable as we look toward 2023. The drivers with the least points on their license should have a reeeeally great time this weekend

OK:
“To be honest I went around the outside and I immediately felt he was not going to leave space, so I just went for it,” “He didn’t leave me space so I knew we were going to get together. It cost him the race win, for me it gave me five seconds. It wouldn’t have mattered anything for my race because we were just way too slow." |

He was in fact saying that it was up to Lewis to give the space if they were going to continue because he was not going to back out. Photos posted earlier in the thread show Max on the sausage curb of the corner and Lewis with space to his left. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eA5laWurAA |

Eh, back in the day.... The odds are sooo in their favor nowadays.
Makes you wonder if the driver stupidity nowadays would be less if they had the same 'safety' as Fangio had? You know, having real 'skin' in the game. Maybe too much safety has incentivized more stupidity on track?

“I went around the outside and I immediately felt he was not going to leave space, so I just went for it,”
How about backing out, and / or braking? Wouldn't that be the right thing to do if you knew there wasn't going to be space? But no, Max felt entitled to "go for it" instead. “He didn’t leave me space so I knew we were going to get together." He carried on, despite knowing there was going to be a crash. "It cost him the race win, for me it gave me five seconds. It wouldn’t have mattered anything for my race because we were just way too slow." Oh, that's OK then. |

Looking at the images in post #4558..it looks to me that Ham was ahead going into the turn, with Max on the inside with his front wheels behind Hamiltons..then the contact..and then Hamilton banking left enabling Max squeezed thru half way off track... But I guess it's all a matter of interpretation.... !

News - Schumacher out and Hulkenberg in at Haas.
It is going to be tough for Schumacher to get a seat in 2023. I am glad that Hulk is back full time.

Verstappen has to be the most disliked World Champion in F1 history after his disgraceful exhibition towards his team mate last weekend.
Not to mention his intentional ramming of Hamilton so Hamilton would not be able to win the race..... Seems like the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree with Verstappen's parents stirring the pot with nasty fake claims about Parez. Verstappens will say/do anything to get an advantage, they have no respect for anyone, even the RB team orders.
