Shafted is the keyword
R8's start at ~US$115k for the base model in the US. Fair price for a great car, IMO

Blame audi for price gauging, and the gov't for implementing the LCT.

The R8 is a stunning piece of kit.
I have had the pleasure of driving one and it is seriously fast, and looks and sounds superb:)

With the recent price increase, i think they just went up another notch :(. $170k + ORC i think.

tempted to try one out; but obviously no dealer will bother to give me the keys to it.

as for honda, nothing in the honda range excites me, despite my mom owning a Legend (RL for the yankees!).
As for lexus, only the LFA,ISF and LS460 is of any interest to me.

On a Professor's income, you'll be selling yourself short.

It would up the university's profile. I'd have to get the vice chancellor one of course. He can have the big guns. I'll do with the middle model.

Dont forget the V12 Diesel R8 if you want to save on fuel economy

R8 V12 TDI storms to 62mph in 4.2 seconds and maxes out at 186mph, it also manages to get 23 MPG.

I know everyone loves this car but it doesn't really appeal to me.

Maybe if I drove one I would feel differently.

For me the best all around sports car for under $125K is still Porsche 911.

They are a daily encounter here in N Dallas where I work and spend most of my time.
To me... and that's just my opinion... the style is just not all there. It just doesn't have that "something" that makes it a supercar. It's almost like a big Audi TT.
