I don't know if I will sell my 1st or not. I bought it new from an AD and it was a nice weekend. If I sold it I am sure I would buy something better or nicer. But I don't see many Yachtmasters, I see subs everywhere. Makes me like my yacht more.

My first was a 14060 (1994) which I still have and treasure. so no I would not trade up. A first has "sentimental" value to me.

That is a very personal question and we all have different reasons to do it or not. In my case, never.

My 2T DJ was my dream, what started me in the Rolex game, and it has been with me for 19 years; through good and bad times.

Possibly for an upgrade to the newer version of a model on two conditions:

1) I consider the newer model similar enough in style and use that owning both would not make sense.

2) The older didn't have any sentimental value.

Even then I still may not sell if I wanted the older one as a beater.

I sold my first Rolex to buy my first Panerai. But it was not a gift or my first high-end watch, I still have that one.

That is exactly what I did. Sold my new, 14060M after a year to fund a 16610LV. First Rolex or not, I had to get what I was lusting after.

Been there and done that. Sold my 78 1680(which I got brand new in 78) in 85 to get a DD. Wish I had it back now, but then it was just a used watch.

I think it depends on what was behind you first Rolex. Was it just a purchase, or did it mark a special day in your life?

For me the answer is no. My first is a z-series SD, which is now discontinued and I bought to commemorate finishing my first large dollar project I managed with money from the bonus. Every time I wear it, I am reminded of that success.

I don't trade or sell watches that I have purchased. Each watch is researched and analyzed before buying. I'm an egineer -what else can I say.

Indeed, indeed. Hence my struggle! 14060M is THE sub already, so many have regretted selling theirs and eventually buys it back.

Now that's a story, did you also consider that as a "upgrade"? In what ways did you think? its rareness or the value overall?

Very much my story, the sentimental part is getting to me.

Ahhh, lust. Exactly, would I regret giving up on my love.

It's brand new, for me it marked several things, I'm a simple man though, so technically I could transfer the "sentiment" if it funded for the next special watch, is that right? :)

I am keeping my first one, a new 16610- it has special meaning to me. The only other likley keeper will be my 16750 which I really like. Other than that, MANY have come and gone, and sometimes the same model comes back, LOL! Thats how the game goes with me--- ahh, the life of a flipper!

I sold my 16610 sub and have no regrets. The ability to part with things has given me the
opportunity to wear some really nice modern Rolexes over the years. One of my favorites
was the Black face Zenith Daytona, nice watch but just a tad to shiny for my tastes.

Now I am a hopeless Vintage Rolex addict.

I sold my 5 watches within 3years switching from Rolex to Breitling and back to Rolex and now PAM. Personally, dun see the point of having too many watches around as they dun get much wrist time.

I did & have zero regret. My first was a TT Blue Sub that was an impulse buy while on vacation. Gorgeous watch but after a couple of years my love for the TT look faded. Flipped it & bought the Sub C.

(still brings a smile every time I look at it)

Now here comes everyone's dilemma (I am sure)

Would you sell your first ever Rolex for an upgrade? I've been eyeing those 16610 LV, 116610 LV. 116613 (Blue/Black) a lot. (damn TRF).

The 14060M is such a classic, such clean lines and such noteworthy as a first watch.
I wish I didn't sell my first to upgrade. Still miss my EXP II. Yes I can always replace it, but it will never be the same. I'd keep what you have and save for your second.
