They aren't comparable across the entire catalog. So if I ranked them based on the company as a whole, my list would be

1. IWC
2. JLC
3. Rolex

But in my mind:

I don't about ranking, but here is how they stack up to me as a consumer.

Rolex is the top of my list.

JLC makes fine dress watches, their sport watches turn my stomach.

IWC does not interest me.

Omega? I had a hard time seeing Rolex in this mix let alone Omega. Have you seen the complications IWC manufacturers? Omega, or Rolex for that matter, couldn't even dream of making them.

For what it's worth, I personally have no desire to own a Jaeger or IWC and a strong desire to own multiple Rolex.

In terms of durability, precision in mass, and worldwide acceptance, resale value, and my pure joy of ownership, I have to say I'd only purchase a Rolex.

No other watches even come close for my money.

That said, one day I will own a A. Lange Datograph Perpetual in rose gold and a SS Patek Aquanaut on rubber strap.

After looking for a long time at both jlc and iwc I decided on the Rolex. In the sub 10k price Rolex has a better selection in the 50+ I believe iwc and jlc win.

Based on reliability, ease of maintenance, desirability, and resale, Rolex, IWC, and JLC. JLC is a pain to get serviced due to their stringent parts policy. Pretty much requires sending into JLC. Roland Murphy the great American watchmaker is the only one I know who has a parts account. Also he is a great guy.

Based on fit and finish JLC, IWC, and Rolex. That said, Rolex meets "the bar" of excellence on fit and finish, but if you look at the details to my eye Rolex is a close third.

agreed! while i do think jlc and iwc are probably better finished and more decorated. rolex is the better overall watch.

I like Rolex better than JLC because I like sport watches better than dress watches, but if I had the opposite preference I'd like JLC better. IWC doesn't do anything for me.

These are really apples to oranges. Rolex is huge with worldwide service. The others are not tiny, but they're really boutique brands making a small number of watches. I like IWC and would like to own a JLC, but both have a history of making fine dress watches, while Rolex has almost always been dress/sport. Even a DJ from the 50's is very much a sporty watch. JLC has a long history as a fine movement maker and complicated movement maker but a much shorter history with sportier watches. IWC has a more spotty history as a fine watchmaker.

Very important to me is the fact that you can get a Rolex serviced almost anywhere. Most other brands making fine watches won't have much of a service network.
