You should definitely insist on a new watch. If the defect is under the crystal it suggests that there may be some dust or other foreign object contamination within the watch. It's incredibly rare with Rolex, I saw something similar on a Sub, and after a quick investigation the watch was replaced. Hope all works out, congrats to your Mrs!
