Historically, Breguet is the company that invented the tourbillon, so if you're going for a piece/brand with history, that is the one to go for. But if you want something mechanically on another level, JLC Gyrotourbillon and Greubel Forsey is what you are looking for. If you want a good price/quality level, Frederique Constant Slimline Tourbillon is very good. "Best" is subjective, so it depends on what you are looking for. I hope that helps.

Breguet the man invented the tourbillon, but Breguet the modern company has very little to do with the man, save for having his name and design aesthetic.

Modern day Breguet is courtesy of the Chaumet brothers, and owes much to Daniel Roth. I am a fan (of Daniel Roth).

Yeah, definitely. But if you value a story around your timepiece, a Breguet would do the trick as they are perceived as the same company that was started by Abraham-Louis Breguet. But indeed, they have little to no connection with the Breguet from those years. Just like Graham doesn't have anything to do with George Graham and Jaquet-Droz has very little to do with Pierre Jaquet-Droz.
