Hopefully this was a one-off thing, I'm going to email Gordon as well and see what he has to say....if it's not typical, then I'd just as soon get a non-stinky version. :)
Sorry to hear, but interesting to see, I'm not the only one! My smell is not as you described. It literally smells like a cigar... Doesn't seem as bad as your case. I'm leaving it open for a few days, hopefully it will be gone! Let us know what he says.

Pleased to report I got my small Casebudi today and all is well.....no odd smell and it does indeed fit my 42mm EXPII. The fit is very snug and does require a bit of extra effort to close the zipper but it is certainly not difficult. My 36mm DJ fits perfectly. I suspect the large Casebudi would provide a similar perfect fit for a 42mm watch but IMO the small one is quite acceptable. IMO a 44mm watch will definitely require the large size. I don't have anything else like the Oakley to compare it to but the construction and overall quality seem fine to me.

Heard back from him today, he was very nice and said they'd take care of me. So far so good, stay tuned!

It's the adhesive off-gassing.

Very common in guitar cases, sunglasses cases, etc.

I wouldn't say it smells like cigars. But it can reek!

Maybe you should look at one of these:

http://www.doettling.com/en/modern-safes/guardian.html

It comes with GPS and starts at only $16,870...
