My wife doesn't care at all about my watch, or watches in general. Ask her the same about handbags, shoes, wallets, cars and other "shiny" things, and you'll get her attention quick!

I tried the old bait and switch and it worked. I was not sure if I would like the blue dial TT Submariner, so I got Invicta homage to see if I liked it. I made a point of opening the box with her there and showing her the watch.

I liked it and had a black TT spyder dial (not an enhancement, a defect) Submariner that Rolex would not service without replacing the dial. I had it converted to blue and really liked it. She never noticed. I gave the Invicta to a buddy in Arizona.

I was in the same dilemma with a Pepsi dial, would I like it, and how to get the Rolex in the house when it was time. I got Invicta homage to see if I liked it. Same thing, I liked it and got a GMT. Plausible deniability.

Purses, a place I have learned not to go!

Wish she wouldn't notice but she has always had an eye for anything that may have cost money, LOL.

One time she asked me if the Sub I was wearing was new all because I had recently had it serviced and it had been polished. I was able to use the "No, not new, just back from service is all" line a couple of times since but now she's caught on to that one.

So I'm one of the unfortunates. No matter how good a deal I get a new arrival ends up costing me a lot of money because they always have to be accompanied by a pacifier gift for her.

When she does, it is just to please me. She is not remotely interested.

The currently sentiment from my wife to be is this: if I purchase a watch anytime in the near future, I will be smothered in my sleep.

My wife doesn't care about them. She won't say, but I think she resents them and my cars. She sees them as a trip or something we could do as a family that we now won't do. Funny, how I don't see what she enjoys spending money on, in the same light. I enjoy seeing her have something she loves.

Yeah, mine definitely notices....last time I came home with something new she was like "I guess this means I get to have your SS Datejust then"

On the flip side, she respects my never ending obsession for watches and even renews my annual subscriptions to Chronos & Watchtime

This past weekend, we were at the local gray dealer browsing since I enjoy talking to the guys there. All she did was look at all the PPs Maybe getting her a nautilus was not the smart choice

The less she knows the better. Be glad. You can buy any watch you want and she will NEVER know!

LOL! You need to keep buying more. At some point she won't even be able to tell if they are new ones or old ones. That is when you have won the battle!

Never hesitate. Then they know you're lying....

All jokes aside, at an x-mas party at one of my dealers my wife actually showed more interest than she ever has in the past when we watched a technician take apart a Patek and he explained all the parts to her. I was able to take off my Zeitwerk and show her the movement after that and for once she appreciated why I love them so much...

The only time when my wife notices is on those very rare days when I don't have a watch on, typically due to having to tinker on one of my cars, and she says "why do you have all of those watches and not wear any of them," which I reply, "you're right, maybe I need another watch just for these occasions." That normally stops the conversation

My wife could truly care less and says as long as I am happy she is good with it! She has one Rolex she wears and has zero interest in another or any other watch.

My old lady like her DJ 31mm, but as far as mine, she says the BLNR matches my eyes and as long as I like it.... She has no idea as to what model / reference is what. Couldn't care less. She likes shiny, expensive things. Knows that anything Rolex is shiny and must be expensive. That's about as far as her interest and extends.

Oh yeah, she has often been quoted "platinum, gold and diamonds...everything else is just fake". She also thinks that husbands who can't provide nice things to their wives have no business masquerading as actual men. Men provide. I guess she is pretty basic in that respect. 20 years and still going...

Thanks for this my friend. I'm going to buy an empty invicta box on the internet - a Rolex homage by invicta - pure genius. (in my case this will work) Hello datejust ll !

Got lucky when it comes to buying bikes, not so much with watches.
Funny!

My wife and I both ride and she loves her Orbea, but she doesn't wear a watch and has absolutely no interest in them. (I have a custom steel Curtlo; love it!)

I'd consider myself lucky but she is into sports cars...

She thinks I'm crazy, although she did encourage me to buy the 116610LV. She loves emeralds and its her favorite watch. I've offered to buy her a new one, but shes happy with her TT DJ. I wish I could be that content.
