Gents, I greatly appreciate the comments and encouragement. It's also been nice to see how many folks use their DSSD as that which they wear most among their watches. I purchased mine the day before a 2.5 week R&R and it hasn't left my wrist, save for a few times I've been snorkeling when I had a close call with some sharp coral. (What does this say about me that I sacrifice my arm to save my watch from getting scraped? I suppose it was Six Million Dollar man syndrome "we can rebuild him...")

Couple of initial observations. I removed the scuba extension per the suggestion of many folks here on the forum and it does indeed fit prone against the wrist, nothing gets caught and nothing slips. Also, I witnessed the ice blue lum for the first time as was I was driving home from purchasing it and as I went under an extended overpass it came to life brilliantly. Just spectacular.

Also, query everyone's thoughts on the difference between the dials. I wholly prefer the MK-I as the shape of the font to me (what I consider to be the unbolded vintage PEPSI font) has a retro feel to it. Also, what some have considered a "wonky" crown is intriguing to me. The first gen look is really something special for those of us who appreciate something a little different.

I'm heading out from Pago Pago to Apia, Samoa and will check in a bit lately. Cheers from the South Pacific.
