Thanks to everyone that commented, so far.

I hope I didn't come across as scary or aggressive. I really am noted for my diplomacy skills (in my previous occupations & generally). I have to say I did lose it when I was being shouted at. I figured: "...why is this guy shouting at me...?! For what? Paying thousands for a watch & a complete stranger is shouting at me? I'm not trying to arrest or detain him...?!" This was the final straw in making me have the attitude of "taking the fight to them" - if that makes sense.

I didn't want to post anything with a negative vibe, but did want to make my fellow forum members realize that it is in their own interest to note every detail of who they speak to & at what time. I truly think that if I hadn't done that, I would be left with selling the YM on eBay. That's how disappointed I was with it.

Then again, I would like to turn this experience into a positive one & conclude that that is why Rolex are so expensive: because you get peace of mind with after sales service! ( I hope...! )

Scary story there.

If an authorized service center treats you that way, and botches the work as well...

Very scary story. Glad you persevered.

Like everyone else, I'm pleased that it worked out for you. It's a salutary lesson to document as much as you can when allowing something as valuable and precious as your Rolex to leave your possession.

Taking photographs of your watch prior to sending it for service, might have assisted to speed the complaint process along. You shouldn't really have to think about doing that with Rolex though.

We've bought the best and expect the best.

Glad it turn out well for you. The guy who shouted at you should be fired by Rolex. Very unprofessional behaviour.

I'm glad the situation was finally resolved in a reasonably satisfactory manner.

I don't look forward to having ANYTHING serviced. I'm sometimes surprised when the service facility actually repairs the item correctly the first time.

The price of the item does not necessarily mean that the service will be better.

Wow, what an experience - glad your persistence paid off in the end. I'm thinking that I should photograph my watch on a current newspaper or magazine before sending it in for service, in case something like that ever happened, so I can say it wasn't me.

In the end, Rolex made right, which is the best part of the story.

When you have it serviced again, you may want to contact Rolex directly to ask for an alternative service centre.

Icon7 Good to hear

Good to hear that you stood your ground. I have had many bad experiences with the RSC in London - to put it in simple terms they don't care!

I think when it comes round to servicing (which is a few years away at the moment) I will take my watches over to the service centre in Geneva.

Best,

Mark.

Wow, I guess you have to be careful no matter who you give your watch too. I think these people sometimes forget how much a Rolex cost and how hard we have to work to own one.... 1 Rolex or a few thousand seiko's. I'm glad it all worked out. Enjoy ur watch

Well Tony it wasn't even second rate work by the sounds of things.
Anyway, I'm very glad Rolex (Geneva) sorted it out, for that they should be congratulated.
Mistakes can happen, and hopefully this will be an isolated instance.
I hope you like the new bezel and the case has I expect been properly polished now

Not to sound like an idiot, but theres always a "bad" experience with any product or brand. My friend has a brand new BMW 7 series that has been in the shop more then in his garage. To make a long story short, 1 BMW dealer is bogus, the other worked diligently until the issues were resolved. So be it a BMW, Ford, Rolex, or whatever there will always be an incidence of bad service and folks that don't care. Its just a kick in the groin when the bad service or mis-fortune affects you.

Glad everything worked out with your Rolex.
