Correct. And as stated it was used. I'm assuming the extra links were from used watches or watches he had purchased in the past according to the price variance bc if the prices per link are the same as they were two years ago they had to be used. Either way...one link for $700 just solidifies me never being able to afford a brand new DD unfortunately...who knows...I might hit that $500 mill powerball tonight......A MAN CAN DREAM DANGIT!!

I counted 25 links on a new model and it would fit me with one taken out 7 and 3/7 wrist

As a point of reference, my AD sized my wrist using the paper Rolex gage at 7.5" wearing a bracelet somewhat losely. My Day-Date 40mm fit this size perfectly out of the box with no adjustment.

The cost on the links is one issue but the bigger issue for me is the fact that you can not adjust the bracelet on a DD except by adding or removing links. No micro adjustment for weather or activity. For watches as expensive as the DD Rolex should have fixed this issue long ago. While I love the looks of the DD in the 36mm, 41mm and the new 40mm, until they fix the bracelet issue I will not buy another DD and my move the one I have.

I recently purchased a DD40 in yellow gold. My wrist size is 7.5" and it fitted alright when I tried on at the dealer. However, I subsequently found that when my wrist swelled, usually in the evening or during hot weather, the bracelet was very tight. Went back to the dealer for a price for a single link and was quoted £395 ($550). This seems an extortionate price to pay for a link that is barely 8mm in length. I bet the gold content is no more than £100-£150.

Looks like I am having to pay this just to make my watch comfortable to wear. The dealer is blaming Rolex for the high price and says that he is unable to do anything about it. I think Rolex should be ashamed of themselves for ripping off their customers.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

the AD I deal with will install the extra links I need to make the watch fit, unless they have already discounted the watch a lot.

its now quite common for a second hand watch to be sold short of a few links , but the dealer may have links available ,, dont need to be a genius to see where the bit of extra profit on a sal eat a decent price will come from ,,, bad practice , but ive seen it a fair bit , i nearly bought an vc overseas , but needing three links left any deal just looking bad , but some were for sale minus three links, then add three , the bracelet was costing more than a watch , its not just rolex.

oh and the vc had stainless links ,, not pm.

When I purchased my DD40 I received a nice discount on the purchase but had to pony up $600.00 for one extra link. The watch fits perfectly now, sits right behind my wrist bone where I like it. In hot weather or with physical activity my wrist swells a little and the watch wears a little tight but is livable.

Do you think your DD40 has its MSRP's worth in gold content?

It's the price one pays for luxury PM timepieces.

Went through this last week and had it explained by the AD. With the normal sports watches Rolex apparently include two extra links, because they are not expensive. With the all gold DD, they don't. A link, here in the UK, costs £400. Fortunately the standard bracelet was fine for my wrist......

The price is in line with gold links for other brands.
