Just purely how they look on your wrist...the YM2. I know very little about AP, so that's purely based on looks.

I hear all the time the AP Diver bezel will mark up and I know it sits high up but I never had a major mark in well over a year with the watch, so it is not inevitable if you are aware. PCLs mark up on a daily however.
I'd try the Diver now, the Tapisserie dial and the gold Rotor are lovely. |

If it were me, I'd stay in the Rolex stable. So many awesome and different pieces available.

Had the diver for a short time.
2 cautions 1) scratches, when the perfectly angular and finished bezel takes a hit, you will notice. 2) setting timing ring was tedious coming from a movable bezel diver. As an additional caution the earlier movements were glitchy and needlessly difficult to set the time accurately, I believe this has been resolved. If the movement did not have an issue and I didn't use the timing ring so often, the scratches wouldn't have bothered me but it did, i did and they did:) Ps it was very comfortable , good looking and sat on my wrist much like my sea dweller.

I'm not a fan of the YMII, so take this with a grain of salt: Get the AP. Check the box. Then you'll never have to wonder about it again. Heck, you might really love it and decide your next piece is a PM AP...

Chad, I have the YMII like yourself, I also have the AP diver along with the DSSD. I have recently become enamored with a PM rolex and decided that I have to let one watch go. I decided on the AP diver. One reason, as keeping a sporty watch in the stable with black, I chose to keep the DSSD. I simply like the look of it more, and for the price of an AP diver, I find it redundant to keep that one as I can still get most of my money back. It really is a beautiful piece but changing strap and bracelet is a challenge. Don't get rid of the YMII, it's colors are simply not replaced by the AP. Have fun deciding.

Once you start the AP diver route, it will eventually lead you to Patek 5167/5164. Take it from me, I once owned the AP diver too.

Tough tough call.
I love the YM 2. I like that AP as well. But I've seen you post about ur enjoyment of the YM on many threads. Don't ruin a good thing. Keep it.

After deciding I was going to trade my DSSD I considered the AP Diver but chose the YMII instead. I'd like to add an AP at some point but wouldn't want to give up my YMII for one. Good luck!

I definately prefer the AP diver. Out of all my watches it's what I chose to wear for a special night out on the town for a big fund raiser gala. I'm a lot less worried about scratches with the AP diver because of the rubber strap. I bought the beautiful SS bracelet. I think it would get lots of scratches if I ever put it on.

I say go for the AP Diver. I've been thinking bout this piece myself, but don't know which one in my small collection I'd be willing to let go. Never been a big fan of th YM or YM II. Best of luck in choosing.

YM II, the only watch that has mechanical memory incorporated into the flyback movement, tbe AP is an ordinary piece

I prefer the Diver over the YMII but you seen to really enjoy yours.
Have you considered picking up the DSSD you had thought about instead? |

If you buy a pre-owned piece with no history and have to start replacing pieces, yeah, the bill can rack up nicely. If you buy a well serviced or brand new piece and take good care of it, maintenance is perfectly in line with other brands, not much more than Rolex and most definitely not a reason not to enjoy this fantastic brand. It is critical to do your due diligence before buying to avoid surprises later. AP's customer service is by far the best in the industry (or one of the best in any case). PS, I am an AP fanboy but note that I voted YM in this case :)

I personally prefer the YMII over the AP. Just my 2 cents though. As others have said though, you could always go for a PM Rolex!

Rocked a 2015 AP Diver for a while, gorgeous and I got many complements for it. Girls especially loved it. But as a few pointed out, scratches show up fairly fast. But I think it only makes the piece looks better, but if you hate them...

YMII for a 15400, maybe, but not that diver. Keep the YMII and add the RO.

I like AP's just not a fan of the diver. I would say go for the Rolex PM for sure.
