To the OP.

It should be ok.
In the past, a watch equipped with a twinlock crown has been tested to > 200 meters with the crown unscrewed with no water entry resulting. The case back was reportedly permanently deformed and crushed against the movement inside.

To check for water ingress, get an ice-cube and place it on the centre of the crystal for a short period.
The cold will condense water vapour on the underside of the crystal if there is a problem.

The rice is indeed most likely scratching the watch case.
Don't worry it won't be first scratches and they won't be the last.

The same happened to me with datejust 16233. Mine was while swimming in a pool though. Everything was fine it has had a service since and no problems indicated.
