I think both the 116520 and 116500 will keep pace with inflation but not do any better than that (excepting NOS examples after 20 years). However, if you have to buy the 500 on the secondary market, it's going to be a lot longer for inflation to catch up. I just don't see that watch staying that much above MSRP for much longer (maybe $1-2K, as it was for previous Daytona generations). The 16520 has a possibly higher ceiling, but as you noted, the bracelet and clasp (and accompanying "rattle") are starting to show their age. Some find that endearing, though.

LOL sorry for the misunderstanding . I am not big fan of the Zenith el Primero for some reason. The Dial is too busy unbalance for my taste.

I tried on a black SS Zenith Daytona stainless steel and wondered why the bracelet seemed so light and weak compared to my 2011 SS Daytona 116520. I wondered if the bracelet was not Rolex or the watch was a replica or something. So, is the bracelet really this light?

Roger and All,
Tell us why you prefer the black dial Daytona over the white dial. I have to make a choice since my AD just called with a Black dial 116500 waiting for me to pick up.
My choice was a White dial. This one just came in and he is offering me first choice.
Best to You

For me, the white dial immediately sang to me. It seemed more "special" at a visceral level to me, but not sure why . Maybe it was the panda-like dial, the slight vintage feel, the Contrast between the white dial and black bezel, and the improved legibility over the black. To me, who has never really been a huge Daytona fan, it was simply stunning. I too was offerred a black dial but passed and two months later along came a white (which I have course bought). It's been 6 months and xxx number of posts later about how people who initially liked the white seemed to be "converted" to black dial fans, I got nervous that I chose wrong! But then 2 weeks ago I had the chance to try on the black dial in person... just had to do it... and once it was on my wrist, I immediately knew I made the right choice in waiting for the white. The black dial was very nice, but it just didn't stun me like the white dial still does. My advice would be if it's the white that sings more loudly to you, wait for it.

I'll gladly take that black dial 116500 in your stead!!!

I'm looking for a wedding watch (wedding in October)
my first Rolex
and am pretty disappointed that there is such a ridiculous waitlist for the new Daytona

Daytona Ceramic or Non-ceramic Daytona ?

I was hell bent on getting a Ceramic Daytona and I got one at list price in October 2016.

The novelty started wearing off after several months I was really longing for a 116520 as it seems dressier and classier.

So I now have a beautiful white dial 116520 and I'm very happy.

Current 116520:

I have both and the ceramic is the way to go if you are going to wear the watch as the bezel will take a beating and still look great where as the old one will take a beating but will show the scratches but after the 1st one they all kind of blend in. The real answer is either are great.

been offered 9k (pounds) for my 116520, which I bought for 6.5ish

Was tempted to upgrade but my AD lost their status unfortunately, therefore too late with UK lists being crazy and uk greys selling around 15K! Simply not worth the jump, unlike USA where the gap is not too bad to upgrade!!!

116520 prices seems to be going through the roof in UK so might have been a plan to keep it one more year and the gap between models might have closed further as more hit the market. Other option next year would be to purchase from US grey when over on vacation since its a few grand cheaper even with crap exchange rate!!!!!

This is why I love my 116520!!!
Looks great as a dress watch. I have been wearing for seven years daily and no issues with bezel. Sure it has scratches but nobody comes close to me with a microscope to care. In three years I will do a full service .

Both are beautiful! I prefer white with my Daytona because its really cool! Deeper than that though when I think Daytona I think white dial pandaesque chronograph. The entirety of my collection except the Daytona has black dials without the option for white....so there you go.

I love my Daytona enough that I have considered picking up a black at some point then eliminating the rest of the collection and just alternating between the two.

I white sang to you first go with white.

The 116500LN is more adaptable to varying styles since it is less conspicuous than the shinier 116520. In regards to long term value, the 116520 will surpass the collectability of the 116500LN since it will be more prone to wear and tear thus making a good example hard to find.

The non-ceramic is ugly (and I say this as someone who prefers the non-ceramic Submariners and GMT Masters).

Not a bad looking chrono, but the overlapping sub dials kill it for me unfortunately. If Zenith would have spaced them just a little it would have been perfect.

The white dial Daytona ceramic is gorgeous and the only non-vintage Daytona I even like.

I think the 116520 looks fantastic.....when new. However, over time, that bezel starts looking all kinds of awful. It has a sort of 'dressier aesthetic' and doesn't look great beat up like a Sub IMO. For this, the new ceramic is the clear winner in my book.
