I prefer used to new, someone else's name on the warrantee card to my own, and the highest possible sales tax rate I can pay. I will pay a premium to get it, too. Oh and I like to give new eBay sellers the business rather than local ADs, because I feel sorry for them.

I consider many factors. I've also personally seen that a relationship with an AD doesn't necessarily mean squat. After the latest incident with my local AD, I'll never step foot in there again. I'll pay full price anywhere else than buy a damn thing from him.

Have purchased new, used and new old stock. Price point for me has been my priority depending on needs/wants plus availability at the time.

New or Used
I bought 2 new datejusts years ago @ 1992, under 3K w/ 18% discount. Bought a used 14060M recently but now I want a white milgauss and am thinking of buying new (grey market) unless I can find a smoking deal on a mint used. just my .02

New or used?
Before coming to this forum, always new from AD.
But now, I am open to the idea of the lightly used watch if history is known or trusted seller stands behind it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

In most cases I go used except for my Daytona C which was a no-brainer to go new.

There is nothing wrong with buying something used as long as it is in good shape

Depends. I am always looking for a deal, but if the savings are not more than $1000, I would rather have the full AD experience.
If I were a wealthy man, I would only purchase from an AD. Life is about experiences and the AD experience is much more enjoyable than clicking through pictures on the internet and placing an order via email, phone, or text.

I read a couple of response and I have to agree as always it always depends on the finances available however for me there's no doubt that I would buy new any day of the week, in fact all my watches we're bought new. The was exception a vintage watch that was a big mess.
The problem with used unless you see the watch in a face-to-face deal you never really know what you're getting, and that's a big problem afterwards the vendor will make their case you will make your own case and it usually turns into a BS show to avoid all that figure out exactly what you want buy the watch you want new either from a seller on the form or from an ad. At the end you'll never have to worry about your watch again you'll be sure nobody messed with it and it was a brand new piece you put on your wrist

For my first Rolex - new from AD. Subsequent purchases can be from trusted sellers, but I'm a firm believer in the first Rolex either being new from an AD, or a gift from a loved one.
