You should be able to purchase one SS model with £4k no matter which model is except Deep Sea and Daytona. However have you considered GMT-IIc, Explorer and Milgauss? Or what about Sea Dweller?? If you ask me between Sub and DJ, Ill go for the Sub or Sub LV. If I have extra £4k budget, Ill get a GMT IIc!
You should really check the specifications on the new GMT. :-D

As some ppl mentioned above. You cannot go wrong with a Rolex!

Sub is not easy to get in central London. However Ive seen one in the new shopping mall Westfield just few days ago. Dont know if it is still there.

Lastly, GMT is a good choice in my opinion and it is a REALLY REALLY REALLY hot model in HK like Daytona. :-D

Sub dates are easy to get hold of.

I would suggest you consider the GMT and/or the Explorer II. For me, I prefer a bezel with a "tool" function that I'll use as opposed to one I won't (I'm not a diver or a racecar driver, but I do travel), and I like the 24-hour hand too. I suspect if you did a survey you would find that GMT watch owners use their bezel more than diver watch owners.

But, all of these watches are awesome, so go with what sings to you.

For me it's all about lifestyle and how you want the watch to behave. Whatever you decide will leave you wanting another one!!! and another one !!!! and another one !!!!

Hi - welcome to the Forum.

The best option is to get both. Both the Sub and the DJ compliment each other very well. They are iconic Rolex models and occupy opposing ends of the Rolex spectrum.

Assuming that is not an option (at least for the time being) I would go for the Sub. The Sub is smart enough for business and social wear, is incredibly robust and is the most iconic Rolex of all. Trust me - you'll never be able to take your eyes of it.

Both are top notch watches so you are in a win win situation. But take your time choosing, try on different watches and enjoy yourself.

Just bought my first Rolex and went with a Sub Date. Love it b/c it's something I can wear with all occassions. I looked into the DJ but decided I wanted something a little more versatile. All depends on what your usual attire is throughout the day, what you're going to use it for, how it feels on your wrist, etc. To echo what the others are saying...go try some on and see what feels right.
