Yep, get it on very safe area of the world and Ive been there a bit. Good news is that if anyone was stupid enough to take it then they would find it useless as after having their hand cut off it would keep slipping off!!!
Trust me the Kuwaitis have no shortage of luxury items on show, your Rolex will look like a seiko in some social occasions! |

I would take the watch to Kuwait, as long as it is insured.
I would also take a "lesser" watch, such as a G-Shock. If I were being deployed to a combat zone, the Rolex would be the last watch I'd take, unless I were general officer and even then, I'm not sure I would. My impression is that Kuwait is a rather prosperous nation, where a Rolex might not garner undue attention under normal circumstances.

Take it...
I would agree that taking a Rolex to Kuwait would be safer than taking it just about anywhere in the good ole US!! Most wouldn't get a second look! |

Take it and enjoy it Richard. Life is too short - enjoy your possessions. I am sure there are plenty of Rolex's in Kuwait and it will be as safe there as anywhere.
However, I would most certainly insure it before I go. Choose an all risks policy with world wide cover.

Hi Richard - how about leaving it with your dog (as per avatar pic)? That way you will always know where it is, and it will be kept wound while you are away...
Cheers

If you leave it, before long you will be noticing the abundance of Rolex on other people's wrists. Could you bear it?

Richard, we both got our first Rolex on a trip to Switzerland with our wives.
I would take it not only for the beautiful YM it is, but as a source of good thoughts about your wife and the good times you had on your trip while you are at work in a far off place.

Take it!
I was on active duty after 9/11 for a couple of years. Didn't leave the states; but, was not exactly sure where I was headed that September.
I took my GMT and didn't really hesitate that I remember. So, I say take your Rolex and enjoy it. Good luck on your stay in Kuwait. Mark

Take it without any hesitation. You could be robbed anywhere in the world but to be robbed in Kuwait where the average wage is considerably higher than here is highly unlikely. Good luck anyway

Wear it and enjoy Kuwait. Why own one if you are not going to wear it?

Plan on your stuff taking one of these routes:
1/3 will get lost 1/3 will get stolen 1/3 will get broken

I retired a year ago and I say leave the watch behind ... unless you have something like a Sub or SD that is due for service around the same time as your return - due to the very fine almost dustlike sand over there. The watch will definitely need to be serviced upon your return if you are going to be serving in the field. In that case, take that bad boy and it will treat you right.

I am opting to leave the watch in my SDB at the bank. We shall see tomorrow when I speak with them one to one.
