Leaving Rolex for... Seiko? Thoughts Please

I didn't have a Rolex at the time and went to Leeds to buy one, as I was walking to the AD through the Victoria Quarter I noticed a GS dealer. I had never seen one and decided to take a quick look, I walked out of the shop with a GS High Beat and a Quartz and not enough money for a Rolex so I went home, I still have both and am delighted with them. About a year afterwards, the Rolex bug bit again so I bought a Sub C. I am really pleased with my small collection. (Couple of Sinn watches as well that I use for anything physical).

Definitely agree with this one. Rolex watches are nice, but there's plenty of other brands out there that have their merits.

I've got a GS Spring Drive and I love the second hand sweep on it. There's nothing else I've seen like it. My GS is also made of Ti and is super light (almost to the point that I think it feels...cheap) and it's a joy to wear. I think the only thing I don't like is how the date change-over takes time and isn't instantaneous, but oh well.

I had a skx007, and I thought that it was a lot of watch for the money.

I gave it to my brother, and missed it even though I had just bought my Rolex sub.

The watches just have a different feel to them.

Anyway, I’ve been looking over this sub forum while missing my skx and have realized that the turtle is quite popular.

Now, I am wondering if I should buy another skx to fill the void in my heart, or if I should give the turtle a shot!

Anyway, as others have said above, I feel like you can have both brands and even others!

Since the "new" SS models are "scarce" why not go for a really nice 16610 for example? I am seeing excellent condition ones all over the place these days. If you get that "for now" and continue to save a bit while you wait for a new one to come along, you should be in good shape.

Just a thought.

PS Also a Seiko fan. GS is another level...

I would like to know if this is a recent phenomenon with members. "Leaving Rolex" for other brands?
I used to be in the mainly Rolex boat but having owned most of the different models you grow a bit bored of same look, also the scarcity of them leading to frustration at not being able to buy the ones I like and the snobbery of some of the ADs I have encountered led to me looking and discovering other watches. I'm not loyal to any brand but pound for pound GS is hard to beat IF you like the style and look. I don't currently have any Rolex and am considering adding a black dial GMT springdrive to the Snowflake.

The great thing about other brands is that I can go into an AD, hold and try on the watch! The only Rolex I would buy right now (from AD if ever possible) is the 116610LV because of the colour!
