Rolex informed my AD that I am only to be offered generic soft drink products in the can and absolutely no chocolates under any circumstances.

Rolex told my AD that they can only offer champagne to PM model buyers, SS buyers can only get water. So that everyone else in the store knows if you were a baller or not.

Can you imagine if Mercedes did this? Sir, we noticed that you sold your last SL 500 after purchasing. We are no longer offering our vehicles to you. I’m not saying they won’t do it, but i see it coming from the AD level. That’s going to be an interesting thread! When someone walks into an AD with watches in the case and they won’t sell one to the person. It’s certainly possible.

When I buy a Rolex, I have never signed a contact saying I cannot sell, trade, nor destroy the watch. So on what legal grounds can Rolex or AD black list me?

If anyone has documentary proof they were blacklisted by Rolex, invest in a good lawyer and sue Rolex for an irrational amount.

Not too off, companies do some times put restitutions at time of purchase, those are contractual binding documents you sign.
I remember I had to sign no export clause for my first ML320 when they came out in 98-99, if I remember it was for 2 years.
The problem with Rolex’s position is no contract is signed at time of purchase, I am not a lawyer but don’t see how can they enforce their will after the fact.

In fact, many Mercedes dealers have you sign a form saying you will not export the vehicle overseas within 1 year. Car prices vary a lot around the world and one can presumably buy a S-class in the US for $100k and sell it overseas for $150k and make a quick profit. Rolex prices are not that too far off between countries except due to currency exchange rates.

I can see it now, “sir, we need to run your name and ss# through our NCIS/fbi/dos System to make sure you are on the OK to fly/buy list”.

Point is, there is no way to monitor or enforce, a “do not buy” list via Rolex.

In the car world, here's an intersring testimony from a guy who tried to flip 11 Porsche 911 GT3 RS cars sourced from several ADs across the US (out of 400 available in the country). He claims Porsche asked the ADs to cancel most of the sales to him and even called him personally to tell him he shouldn't be reselling Porsches, only Porsche can sell through their ADs network. In order to stop flippers like him, Porsche asked ADs to sell to local customers only going forward and started a VIP 918 program where only buyers who spend 1.million on a 918 would have first rights on any GT car and was not allowed to resell in 6 months. Starts at 2:45.

https://youtu.be/vxevZP9pUPg

Only VIPs who spend a million can get the hot cars first... Rings a bell?

Uh, no. I don’t flip or otherwise compete with Rolex. I give them my money when they have something I want and repeat when something new comes out. I’m a boring and low maintenance customer.

You don’t choose Rolex, Rolex chooses you? Kind of like buying a Ferrari.

No. Rolex customers are the ADs not us. You want to hear about people who were blacklisted then talk to jewelry stores.

I've asked a couple ADs if they could get me a Daytona C, black or white.
They all said no, does that mean I'm blacklisted?

Have to agree

I can only speak for myself, but I would hope that my AD thinks of my as a good customer. Sure I’ve bought and sold a few Rolex, but never for a profit. I’m not a flipper I buy to wear and enjoy.

Sometimes you just need to test the waters before you settle on what you want. I’d hate to think there’s a penalty for doing that

Now, where’s my BLRO

I’m quite sure there are many people who have been blacklisted from an AD for flipping watches. They might not know it. But all of a sudden they’re off all “lists”. But I highly doubt Lord Rolex himself keeps a list of misfits and traitors.

Blacklisted by Rolex

I think so, I'm on a list for a Pepsi GMT... It feels like I'm blacklisted!

I had a huge debate when buying a Range Rover from a TX Land Rover dealer. They wanted me to sign a paper that they could take the car back at any time within like two weeks and that they could demand full payment on the loan with 24 hours notice or I would be in default. I said this is not going to fly.

They said they were required to have the language by the bank, I said no way that's not true. Then they changed the story and said it was because they had issues with people exporting Range Rovers and were worried I was going to export the Autobiography I wanted.

In my perspective it might be that ADs are profiling customers. I was getting friendly with the sales guy at my AD. Discussed my collection and even showed watches I'd bought which they couldn't (wouldn't) get for me. At any rate this new season of watches came out and I tried to order a CHNR and got some crap response from them.

Quote:
Rolex instructions for ALL of the new Oyster Professional series pieces is that we are to currently treat them as the steel Daytona. In other words no orders(payments) are currently allowed. We are to wait to receive our respective stores allotment whenever they may come. Once the pieces arrive it is up to store internal personnel to decide who to sell to. I can say that you are on the top of my list for the model you are interested in. I will reach out when I have one to sell you.
