Congrats on a great pick up! I love that watch. My two liner Z serial is the only watch in my collection that I'm positive will never be sold.

Congrats, you picked one of my all time favorite references....personally, I feel the 14060M is the perfect 5 digit sports reference.. (COSC or non COSC dial) the 2 liner was my first sports reference Rolex and I’ll never sell it..enjoy and wear in the best of health for many many great years ahead

As you spend more time on this forum you'll observe the intensity with which many covet the "full set", including each and every piece of ephemera. It's up to each collector to determine what's important but condition is always paramount. Beyond that, I personally like to see the original certificate as everything else is too easily sourced to confirm originality. Boxes, booklets, hangtags are commodities that can be purchased and assembled by both the obsessive and unscrupulous. The important thing is that you've found a really nice example of a watch that you enjoy. The 2 line 14060M is my favorite modern Rolex and in my assessment is the very essence of what Rolex does best. Nothing produced since appeals to me in the same way. It's a near perfect example of a no nonsense utilitarian sports watch. No cyclops, no superfluous text, no gimmicks. Quality and purity of design unrivaled. |

Thanks to all those who have dropped comments- it’s great to hear you like it nearly as much as I do!

Tony, I think you are correct. Upon a bit of reading, many had suggested the tag had made its way in at the dealer during or close to the transition period. I agree with you fully that condition is paramount, it was forefront for me, and IMO I found a complete minter. It was top of my list along with the original paper. The other bits are a bonus in my eyes- the invoice etc is cool, but the other bits are easily ‘gathered’ as you say. It’s a great reference! Thanks for the comment!

Hi new to this... I’m wondering what is the issue with the Red Tag? History? When and what watch model did or does this go with.... I just bought from AD Exp II 216570 and dont remember if I have a red tag but will check tonight. Thanks in advance for your info. Cheers! giuseppe

Incoming - 14060M 2 liner Submariner
Quote:
The red tag is for COSC certitification. The question at hand it that the 14060M isn’t COSC certified. There are thoughts that they slipped in at AD’s, or the later ones (like mine) were in a sort of transition period, or it was just added. It’s hard to know!

Good choice! I recently noticed that my 14060M 2-liner has the “Flat 4” font on the Bezel...cool little detail as I haven’t seen any 4-liners with this font!
