Not weird at all. That project has me thinking of getting an explorer, doing the same treatment, and perhaps it would replace my 14060M as well... Not sure about it but thinking it. It's nice to have something different. Or the same treatment with a Milgauss but brush the top case and PCL's.

I have an Explorer and Explorer 2. They’re not redundant. I think you’ll be happy with the combo.

I agree. I basically said the same thing above. DJ isn't really a dress watch. Check out JLC if you want a good dress watch for under $10k.

However, ever since we went casual at work, I am questioning whether or not it makes sense for me to ever get a dress watch. I wear a suit now maybe once or twice a year.

I think many of us are in the same category.

Plus, dress watches aren't as robust, they're more fragile, and you can't give them a nice cleaning like you can with a Rolex (i.e., scrub them in the sink with running water, soap and a toothbrush).

A nice dress watch goes great with a suit, no doubt, but honestly, I think wearing a Sub or a DJ with a suit is perfectly fine at this point in my life.

If by dress you mean a watch you would wear to work with a suit, then a Datejust and a Sub. If you want something more formal then something like a JLC Reverso or Master Ultra Thin Moon would be great. If you budget permits, the Patek Caltrava would be a great choice. My favorite reference is the 5196.

both are two very similar watches if they are black dial....having said that, you should get Datejust instead in the case of dress watch to pair it up with the Sub because explorer i is not really a dress watch (datejust is closer to a dress watch as it gets, otherwise a real dress watch would be a Cellini)
