Where are stolen watches sold?
It would seem futile once the serial numbers are made public |

Death is for drugs of a very high qty / type, can also be 20k fine and an ass whoppin' you'll NEVER forget. Singapore also canes, and they hit hard as I've seen videos. Lived in Singapore for a few months and truly love it there. Great country, very safe overall.
The guy who stole the Rolex WILL get caught, and WILL be held to account. Singapore is very upfront about their laws. Frankly, just don't be an a$&hole and you'll have an awesome time. Oh, and plan to gain weight, the food stalls are spectacular! See link below, they are VERY clear. Again, just be cool... and have a few drinks on Sentosa Island :) https://singaporelegaladvice.com/law...ore-penalties/

What you are describing is know as “Strongarm Robbery” in the U.S. Theft and robbery are synonymous here.

The crime from what I read was definitely a theft and not a robbery, based on 37 years experience.

Lol “his life is over” , only a snatch and run , probably come under some sort of theft . What he done was morally wrong and I don’t condone it , but that’s what happens when you have no security measures in place . "We are all operating small shops here, we can't afford to hire a security guard for every shop," Maybe they shouldn’t be so frugal and hire one , they are selling diamond encrusted Rolex’s after all .

Just for fun, I looked up Singapore's sentencing guidelines for theft. Depending upon other factors it appears if he is just a first time a-hole then he could be caned a few times and get seven years in the pokey. Death. . . lol.

Not death penalty lol, but he will prob be required to carry a different ID card, find it v difficult to find a job, difficult everything...theres a strong stigma attached. Sg's a small city.

Different ID card? You mean something other than a NRIC? Is this something new?

Not sure about Malaysia but convicted Singaporean criminals released from prison do not have a different ID card from any other Singaporean citizen. Not sure where you're getting that information from.

I think it’s pretty clear he meant that in order to get a job in the future he would need a fake ID (‘different ID’); as every time he tried to apply for a job his criminal record would be flagged up on the system. He would basically never be able to get a job based on his ID card details
