Congrats! As said above the watch will be just fine. It will be a long wait though!

Should have clarified that I meant with respect to the box and papers.

Congratulations on a great watch. Your wife is to be complemented on getting you something that you wanted. Start wearing your birthday watch, don't let it sit around for 18 months on some subjective, "you have to wait", false time line. A lot can happen in that time frame and the joy the watch will bring you can not be relived. Have a straight up conversation with your wife and get on with wearing your watch.

Some models used to sit in showroom windows for longer. It will be fine. When I purchased my Explorer II in 2013, the AD still had a 16610LV (presumably from 2008-2009) sitting brand new in the display. This was before the hysteria surrounding this model.

My wife bought me a Explorer 1 for my 30th (6 months away). I’ve been wearing it all week, “just making sure it wears how I want”. Lots of nice dinners and housework helps it go unnoticed. Congrats by the way! Yeah

Congratulations.

Tell her it will do irreparable harm to leave idle for 18 months ... you must start wearing it right away
